I thought this photo set was kind of neat. I have a certain vision of the WWII era that looks older than things do now. I picture everything in B&W, and /maybe/ Kodachrome, but it all has a kind of old look to it, with a soft focus, and not like something you'd see now.
If you ignore the spectators in these shots, these pictures give a more realistic feel of what things must have looked like. Not the crazy masses of troops, but the vivid colors, and sharp definition. It makes it all seem more real instead of the abstract view you get from old media...
