When are you going to put a video up of you playing it?

As soon as i get the strings semi broken in, I'll be putting something up.

That is so cool! Now can you make a Ukulele Cigar Box to go with it?

It still opens, so I guess I could keep cigars in it. They might get all dried out though.

It will still play great even if it only sounds half as good as it looks!

Thanks y'all! Pretty excited about it, and it does sound like a ukulele. Just needs a little work on the nut to make the action a little lower. Now I want to make another one!

I like they way you incorporated a lot of common materials, with the exception of a princess fork, into making it. I am just curious, are there any types of wood that clearly sound better when you are making an instrument like that? I used to know a guy who made drums out of redwood and they sounded awesome. He took redwood boxes that he made and then cut a design into the top for a playing surface. For drumsticks he would take a superball and poke a chopstick into it. Sounds funky but they really sounded good.

Well I really don't have a lot of hard fast rules when making one of these. I'm pretty new at this and kind of flying by the seat of my pants right now.

I do think that hard materials, hardwoods and plastics(or bone or metal), are best for whatever is going to contact the strings. That's just my opinion though and I may be full of shit. I think you get a brighter sound with harder materials. I also took a lot of care to make sure the soundboard was clear. The neck runs all the way through, but there is about a quarter inch between it and the soundboard on the inside.
