    Hotlanta

Hey, I'm going to Atlanta, GA on a business trip next week.

I don't know how much, if any, time I'll have to go exploring but does anyone have any 'must-see' ideas or 'must-eat' recommendations?

    Thanks

If you eat the fish there, APD might freak out. For a good burger try the Vortex, The Collonnade has good food, Fogo de Chao is really good, but not exclusive to ATL. Big Pie in the Sky for pizza....Gladys Knights is good soul food....The Highlander is a punk rock dive bar that has exceptional food. I really like their chilli and cheese sticks....hmmm let me think ill get back to you

Man you can't leave the Varsity out (just for the spectacle and to say you've been there)

Also Condor, how is Grant Park and the Cyclorama? It has been a long time since I was there.

Also the Coke Museum (if you want to go the tourist route)
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Theres a Varsity here in Athens as well and I just think its SUPER overrated. I guess if you wanna do the tourist food thing, hit the Varsity, but all it ever does for me is give me a raging case of brown laser. I have some friends that live by Grant Park and its cool, but I dunno...theres plenty to do in ATL.

I go through Atlanta a lot, my favorite place in Atlanta is the other side depending on which side I am stuck in traffic on.

I guess I am not going to be much help!

One of my favorite places to stop when going through Atlanta is Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. It is Cajun style food and its pretty dern good. Also not very expensive (not cheap, but not expensive).

There are two or three of them around Atlanta. The one I go to is just off Jimmy Carter Blvd from I-85 just north of I-285. It is not quite out to Duluth. We are usually traveling from Birmingham to South Carolina.

I could tell you all the record stores to not miss, but I doubt that you're looking for a vinyl buying tour.

(Condor's from Athens... I remember the last time I was out there, I saw empty snus cans on the ground in various places, was an interesting sight, mostly v2 products, people got good taste over there)

The guy that is flying me down there lives in Peach Tree City. I'm not staying with him but I just learned that I probably won't have a car. That puts the kibosh on most of my ideas plus the work will be mostly evenings anyhow. Bummer. Atlanta looks pretty damn nice.

Thanks for the recommendations though. Keep 'em coming if you think of them.

                          Thanks.

Went to Varsity today and got yelled at. "Whaddya have!?!?!?" I guess that's tradition.

It was a spectacle all right. If I had seven beers in me i might have thought the food was good but I went for the spectacle of it. I wish I brought my Metamucil along after that meal. I'm staying right by the Airport. Was up about an hour north today but can't remember the town name I was in. Going to Fayetteville tomorrow, then Duluth, and a few other towns. Peddling kitchens.

Yes, it was that way when I went to college in Atlanta in the early 70's. And probably for decades before that. They also have weird code names for the orders.
