I've missed you guys and it's only been a month. Where else can you find such a diverse and (mostly) intelligent group of people.
Things have been crazy around here. Some highlights...
First, one of my friends and (former) new snus convert was in the icu after picking up MRSA at the VA. While treating her, they discover that at 28 she had the lungs of an 80+ year old chain smoker. Come to find out, it is a heart problem and the black is her lungs dying from oxygen starvation. Needless to say, she is now a former snus user since any nicotine in her condition would be bad.
Then, I go on vacation. The day before I do some soft tissue damage to my ankle. So, I have hobbled everywhere. (Can walk normal now, with minimal discomfort.) We could not have asked for better fall weather in northern MI, but that is about all I can say went well. Spent a good chunk of the time waiting for repairs on my truck. Can't beat the prices I get up there, but not an ideal vacation. The time we planned on popping over the border had to be canceled because my husband claimed he "forgot" he needed his passport. When I get angry, he tells me that it wouldn't have done any good to have brought it because he never renewed his. I'm sure the ladies around here can understand the frustration of this typical spouse behavior. My dad already had the boat in dry dock, so there was no chance of just slipping over that way either. Many of our outdoor plans didn't pan out either with my slow, hobble walk.
The night before we leave, my sister has us over for diner and I have to take off my hat to sit at the table and she informs me of my problems. She said if she had to write a run report, she would not even bother asking, she would simply note that 'patient has psoriasis' on the report. Now, I try to avoid knowing too many medical things beyond what I need to know, so once it was explained to me, I have to agree that she is probably correct. Of course, tri-care has no appointments, so I am stuck waiting to get in to the clinic. It seems they can now only book appointments for the current week. I did see the vet with the dog today. She gave me some over the counter tips for the body, but didn't know what to do with over-the-counter for the head (where it is the worst) and can't legally prescribe for a human. I tried claiming that since I was now molting that I can't be entirely human, but she thought that would just get me in more trouble. Now some of you that know what psoriasis is may wonder why I had no clue until it got so bad and the answers are simple. I have had all manor of strange rashes since I was an infant. Most of the time they are from exposure to some chemical and they come and go. I really thought this was horrible dandruff and a rash. Doctors have seen it, but they are the same military doctors that diagnosed me with everything under the sun for 5 years while dealing with gallbladder problems. Only to go out of town and be sent straight to emergency surgery to remove the shreds and pieces of what was left along with a 2.5" stone. Hopefully I'll be able to get in before the end of the year and things start getting "normal" again.
Oh yeah, snus forum... I'm looking forward to catch up and see if any new flavors have been introduced. My Taboca and Nick & Johnny supply will probably need some topping up in the next month or so, so it will be great to try something new with the order. Actually enjoying an 1847 white portion right now.
