Kudos to Obama: The toughest on immegration in decades

Obama deported a record amount of illegal aliens last year, and broke the record again this year. He is deporting the absolute maximum he is able to with the system we have in place, which is roughly 400,000 illegals a year. Kudos to Obama for being tougher on immegration than any republican president has been in over 50 years!

Bonus: Most of them had criminal records and he also cracked down on employers who were repeat offenders in hiring illegals. This is what I wish republicans would do.

Immigration agents have audited 3,200 employers suspected of hiring illegal immigrants, debarred 225 companies and individuals, and levied 50 million dollars in penalties -- more than during the entire Bush administration, ICE said.

Deportations of convicted criminals were up 70 percent in 2010 compared to 2008, the final year of the Bush administration, the agency said.

      The Reality =

A)There are nearly 20 million illegals i the US. It is impossible, both financially and logically to deport them all.
      B) Giving amnesty only grows this number and gives incentive to break our laws

With both of those answers being bad, the obvious conclusion is:

      A) Deport the ones who are criminals, as opposed to those who are just here to work and/or do not have a negative effect on society.

Obama is deporting the criminals and cracking down on employers. This is 100% what republicans want. I know they won't thank him for it, but he is doing a better job than Bush or anyone else has for a long time. Hats off to him.

It's a dumb thing to say "deport them all", with the meaning of, all at one time, but you can deport them as they are found.

I am glad he's doing this.

I wonder what happens to the criminals, are they just let out on a street corner in Mexico, or do they go to jail there?

I don't think there is a real plan. But I have always said that if you get convicted of a felony here and your illegal you need to go home, and i'm glad that is happening on a larger scale now.

@ TOM: Yah they pretty much let them out on the street. It's no that common for the mexican government to jail them. Plus the drug cartel people would get out of jail anyways, they run the country right now.

I would like to see Tom Tancredo in charge of this issue.

                Kudos to Obama ?
There are just more illegals here. Actually the ratio of deporations to illegals in the US is going down.

Looks like Tancredo is gaining some steam. I hope he wins and actually does something about the issue.

With all due respect I don't think Obama (or anyone) can control who is coming in. It is the fed gov's job to make sure they are going out though, and they are working at capacity right now. 400,000 is a low capacity though if you ask me and should be increased.

Also, didn't I read somewhere that immegration was slowing down due to the economy and lack of jobs? I heard that record numbers of illegals were going back to mexico as opposed to coming here?

Of course he is going to try and do this. When you look as bad as he does you will try to put an emphasis on any good thing you do to try and take the light away from all the screw ups.

Little off track here. But I have a question. Why do any Americans feel that illegal immigrants should not be deported? What reasons do they feel that the gov't would be wrong in doing so?

I have no issues with any immigrant that wants to come to this country. But do it the right way. Do people get confused and think that when we say illegal immigrant we are referring to any immigrant? I just don't see how one could argue that the illegals do not belong here, and do not make things worse financially and economically for actual citizens.

And I have NO idea how an illegal immigrant could get helath benefits and/or unemployment in this country, and then to make it even worse there are people who are actually IN FAVOR of that. I really don't understand people much anymore. It seems thinking logically has been totally left behind.

So anyway, Can someone educate me on why people think illegal immigrants should be allowed in?

The conservative money folks love them for cheap labor, and the liberal folks want them for minority votes. Nobody is serious about sending them back, but they all talk a good game...
