There can be several reasons for that. The forum point system started one year a go (it's feature of the new forum platform) and it has been fixed couple of times since then. Basically you'll get more points more creative you are e.g creating a thread gives you more points than just posting a reply as well as getting banned or post reported will loose points. (But, PP you won't get any points when you are banning people, so don't start any hunting now ;-) We have lot of activities here: blogs, auctions, rates & reviews + admins can promote member post as article as well. We are still fine tuning the forum point system, but that's basically how it works.

First off, let me clarify: no one (to my knowledge) wants the World section gone mmkay? Some, like me, think that the things posted there should not count towards a discount on snus, as they aren't related to or about snus.

Let me preface this by saying that I would not care even a tiny bit if the PATWAU section did not even issue you points. I can completely see that argument and you will not hear me complain if Ice decides to turn off points from the PATWAU section. A lot of those convos in the PATWAU section (and their associated points) are just me and Tom going back and forth so I understand if people don't want those points to be worth anything relative to others who post relevant shit that's actually about snus, and I think that is a completely valid argument so no protest from me there.

I like the feature, I love it, even though I won't be able to use it, but I just don't like the idea of people getting rewarded for straying off the course and going off topic.

But just keep in mind that there is an argument for those points to be valid as well, namely that this is a Snuson store we are talking about, and the PATWAU section is a big part of Snuson. I mean we can't say "only on-topic snus comments should count for points" simply because there is no way logistically of accomplishing that. I don't see how someone posting BS in the snus&health section should count more than BS posted in the PATWAU section. BS is BS and there is no way to really filter that. And if you take away points from the PATWAU section, some people may or may not just start posting their BS into the regular snus sections to get points and that may taint the "snus" sections of our community. Right now the BS is pretty well contained to the PATWAU section for the most part and I think we take a risk by cutting off their points because the BS convos may spill into other sections just for the sake of points. It doesn't solve the postwhore problem and just incentivizes postwhores to do their whoring in the regular snus threads.


And as far as contribution, i've been here for years, ive payed for the gold VIP, i've bought Ice's Icetool, i've bought his cool "ThinKing" wallet (which has replaced my regular wallet btw), i've contributed a little to the snus discussion part, but the vast majority of my posts are offtopic discussions in the PATWAU section, but I sure feel like I am a member of this community as much as anyone else, and if we are going to have a community shop that uses community points for currency/value, than I don't see how we can randomyl pick and choose whos points count more. I mean literally, I don't see how the logistics would work, how do we decide what posts are more valid than others? I again re-iterate that BS is posted in all sections of the forum, not just the PATWAU section.


Again, I don't care for these points and you guys can all split mine up when the store opens, but I maintain that everyone here contributes in one way or another to the snuson community and everyones posts should count if we are going to have a reward system. Really I think the points should be weighted differently, but that's just me, I think right now the point systems favors people who post walls of text like I do and I don't think that is fair.

It's very different, because if you write a review for a product, you write something relevant, and useful. If you would get rewarded for posting that same fleshlight joke on the northerner, that would be insane. Same with snuson, PATWAU is irrelevant, and serves no purpose within snus/tobacco discussion which is what this forum is about in its core.
Even if people were 'review whores' on the northerner, they would still contribute with appropriate material.

In actuality, the vast majority of traffic comes from unregistered lurkers, and they don't come here to read about fleshlights. Take a look at snuffhouse, (ballparking here) 95% of discussion is about tobacco, and the community isn't shattered. I don't want to shut that section down, I just feel that it isn't what this forum is for (it's for snus goddamit), and it should have a lower standing.

My point was that the people who take the time to make accounts usually end up finding their way to the PATWAU section, or sign up to join some heated debate happening there. It brings lurkers out of the dark. Lurkers will have no advantage either way since they get no points so why should they care anyways.
