There has been lots of discussion on the subject at the ECF forum. The general consensus is that you do get nicotine from e-cigs but there is a lot more to tobacco then nicotine. There is a range of alkaloids in tobacco that can greatly enhance the effect of nicotine. The purified type nicotine in e-liquid, which is the same type of nicotine used in gum and patches, provides the stimulating effect, but the other alkaloids missing in e-liquid but found in tobacco give the calming effect. This is the thread where lots of good information came up. It's a very very very long thread, but the first 25 pages cover most of what it's about. It gets rambling after that.Originally posted by Experimental Monkey View PostAll I can say is I feel the head rush of nicotine off of my e-cig, personally. Note that results may vary based on the equipment and more importantly the JUICE used in said experiment. TBH I find myself craving the e-cig over an actual cigarette. But to each his own.

I can relate to that.Originally posted by stubby2 View PostThere is a range of alkaloids in tobacco that can greatly enhance the effect of nicotine.
To me NRT or pure nicotine just makes me feel like I've drunk too much coffee but the nic experience I get from tobacco is releaxing. I'm sure I read somewhere that tobacco contains (amongst other stuff) MAOIs which alter the way your brain reacts to nicotine.

I believe this study 100%. I used e-cigs for a few months,36mg juice which is the "highest" you are supposed to use.I could chain vape that shit all day and not feel a damn thing as far as getting any nic fix whatsoever.I don't doubt the liquid contains the nicotine but maybe nicotine just can't be absorbed in this way.And don't get me started on the cost......And I was a heavy smoker, been off the cigs for 2 weeks now.I put in a General Ekstra Sterk and I have no urge to smoke.I think e-cigs are only effective as placebo. The hand to mouth thing.Save your money people.

Amazingly, they still sell them. Complete with the little red dot on the end. They aren't "properly" branded, but still the same otherwise.Originally posted by snusgetter View PostWhat ever happened to those good old-fashioned candy and bubblegum cigarettes?
I don't get it at all. I mean, even seeing Joe Camel will instantly turn you into a rabid addict...
But I guess it's nice to see someone's business not banned.

The one i tried gave me way too much nicotine. I almost felt manic. They don't work as advertised. Cartridge=1 pack my ass. A cartridge lasted about 20 drags, and delivered a different dose of nicotine depending on many variables. How hard I pulled when taking a drag, the charge of the battery, the freshness of the cartridge. They all seemed to play a role. In the end it just felt like a scam to get money. The device did not help me quit smoking. Only snus did that.
