Apparently I missed ticking a box about NY tobbaco tax, since I've moved back to NY. I was prety sure I'd ticked it, but it should get sent out soon.

So frustrating. But glad it is sorted. Let me know once you have it and try it, I am curious what you think.

Okay, it showed up just as I got home. About to pack up the first bowl of Frog Morton and see how it is. I'll update it after the fact.

Update: This was actually quite nice. I packed my first bowl of the Frog up, and only had to relight it four or five times once I got it going. Not a whole lot of a tongue bite, and it smoked right to the bottom. My old pipe that I junked would never manage to make it to the bottom of a bowl, which used to bug me quite a bit.

i've been looking around for a cheap corn cob pipe but have had no luck, the only place i can find that sells pipes is a cigar bar and their cheapest pipe is a briar for 64$. i just dont have the money for that right now. if anybody knows where i can find a cheap corn cob pipe it would be much appreciated.

Try your local rite aid/wallgreens/longs/whateveryouhave if that doesn't work go to the source:
              http://www.corncobpipe.com/product.php?productid=16146

Rite Aid carries them here as do some headshops.

              Cheers!

Shouldn't matter on a cob they smoke dry. On a briar it's nice to be able to pass a cleaner through without taking it apart. Some bents won't do that.

Oh yeah, I like to take the filter out of the cobs. YMMV

i took filters out of my cigs and when i rolled my own i never bought filters for them, so ill most likely remove the filter from it.

I just prefer my pipes bent, just me. No real difference, I have some pipes that pass a cleaner all the way through, I have some that don't. Is simply not an issue either way

well bent means that the stuff is less likely to flow back to your mouth... right? the juice

You shouldn't really have much moisture in there to come into your mouth anywise. If you do, I'd guess you're puffing pretty hard and fast on your pipe.

I think I might want to get a different blend that burns down to a clean ash. I like the Frog Morton, but it always leaves some dottle down at the bottom. I'm trying to keep it clean, but it does give me a bit of a sour taste sometimes. Any recommendations for a solid blend to break my pipe in with? At the moment, I'm more interested in English blends. I've heard they're a bit easier to remove the taste of from your pipe if you decide you don't like them.

                            Breaking in a pipe?????

I just use simple Burley's like Prince Albert or Carter Hall. Many folks do that, some just break in with what they plan on smoking.

but Prince Albert or Carter Hall are perfect for the job. Will smoke cleanly and all the way own each time.

Both Burley and 'straight' VA's does a good job breaking in a pipe.

English/Oriental/Balkans on the other hand ... well, they get the job done, sure, but the 'ghosting' is pretty heavy when dealing with mixtures containing Latakia.
If you do want to break it in with an English (or the likes), i recommend using a ligther one. Rattray's 7 Reserve comes to my mind.

If a pipe is foul tasting an exorcism is best done with the good old salt'n'alcohol treatment.

a trip back in memory, I stopped smoking pipe along cigs...when i stopped, I sold and gave away my 263 pipes and the 7 kg vintage/stored tobacco I hat, and never looked back......well almost, but I will not start again, becuase every time I smoked a pipe, I would get the urge for a cig, and I dont need that! buuuut what times I hat with my pipes and baccy, I would get my own blends made by the old tobacco chief blender at WØ Larsen (its closed now, but it was heaven for pipesmokers...just ask around) so I ended up having my own blend in the store, funny when ppl asked, have you tried this blend....! , it was one of the strongest but best balkans you could get..........so stronge and rich! ohhh no i miss it so, you lucky ppl!

when you ever get around to baccys from Rattray's, eks. Red Rapparee/ Marlin flake and the the 7 Reserve....then pl. think of me! they werent stronge baccys, but such goooood baccys!

and with good baccy on my mind il grap my Grov snus and enjoy the taste of tobacco again!
