    Why can't I take Toque?

I just got my order today, and finished airing them all out (still a hint of ammonia, but not much). So I excitedly grab a pinch. Having only a few Poschl menthol flavors before it, I was excited. I breath lightly, and IMMEDIATELY my throat tingles, my eyes water, and I cough. I wait and try a little later, no change. And I'm wondering what the hell, I thought Toque was good for beginners? I had no problem with Ozona aside from a few sneezes, but this I just can't take.

    What am I doing wrong?

First off you probably tried to do too much. The Poschls are very forgiving in this respect. Toque has way more nicotine tho so a lil goes a lot further. Start with very little and build yourself up to bigger pinches. Some swear by dampening their finger before pinching. Also hold the pinch tightly and gradually loosen up your pinch to get it to work. Other than that Practice makes perfect......

Sounds like it's getting too far into your system. Sometimes I just rub some on my septum with my finger. It's pretty easy that way. I do still sneeze with snuff so YMMV.

No, I hardly had any, just a really really light breath.

You're breathing too hard in it seems like.

I have no problem with Toque, just breathe lighter.

I don't think you're getting the point. I'm breathing REALLY lightly.

I have the same problem pinching with some toques. I'm getting better with it but I don't know what it is. I just take them off the back of my hand and problem solved. I have no problem pinching American snuffs or FUBAR grunt and they are fine and dry as all get out. I think my problem with Toque is I get all ballsy and go for a significant hoot. Also, the rubbing on the septum is a good way to go.

Try taking a deep breath and then snuffing. It may help you out. Being used to the super easy to take Poschl snuffs will give you a steeper learning curve. Try the back of the hand snuff.

The berwick brown is fabulous though as it is a coarser grind so if you got that you should hit it up.

Sorry if I rambled. I should be sleeping.

Breathe in as hard as you can, take a pinch and smell as lightly as you can, it's hard for me because my nose is always clogged so I sniff to lightly on one side and then hard on the other but I use about 1-3 pinches a day still. Use something easy, I know Quit, absinthe, S&P, and any toast is hard to use, espresso, peach, coke, and champagne are generally easier not easy by any means but easier, and secondly just deal with it I still sneeze and feel pain all the time, absinthe was the worst a couple big pinches that were basically snorted even though I sniffed and I was coughing bad.

Poschl snuffs are full of paraffin oil and this makes them very heavy and very easy for beginners to take. English snuffs are 100% natural tobacco and very light but, once mastered they are no problem.

Try a wet pinch as this adds weight and helps keep the snuff in the front of the nose. Lick/wet your finger and thumb take a big pinch, let it warm a little and gently place it, rather than sniff it, on either side of the septum. This method works every time. Works really well for beginners and helps reduce sneezing and stops snuff from reaching the back of the throat.

With time you will learn to breathe out while sniffing in. I know it sounds impossible but, that’s the best way of describing the perfect snuff technique.
