Your local grocer usually carries some sort of American Scotch W.E. Garrett, Tops or something and they are real cheap for a small tin.
Yup that sampler was great Nomad! I love tryin new things and with snuff the options are too many to count. It's another enjoyable safe way to enjoy tobacco. It's even older than snus. Snus came about do to those old folks in Sweden dippin their snuff.

Eric, I'm a long time snus user 10+ years (my nicotine fix) but snuff is just pure pleasure don't you think?

I'm sure snuff will make you sneeze at first, that happens to everybody. But after using it a while, it might actually inhibit your sneezing. If the inside of your nose is coated with snuff, whatever allergens or other irritants making you sneeze now won't be able to reach those sensitive tissues.

            Right on, PnS!

Another good point....there is a reason why they call the menthol related snuff medicated.

I would never have seen that since I don't smoke... I did go and check it out there's a guy on the forum with the user name "tidybowl" very creative... I know you guys with pipes have quite an investment in them...

That's a great forum. Very nice and thoughtful people. You don't have to get heavily invested at all, but it's addicting drooling over pipes and tobacco, and the sky is the limit. I have some decent pipes but most of mine are corncobs and smoke great for cheap. The variety of pipes and tobacco blends is awesome, just like snuff but more.

Edit: Oh! and you can top your bowls with snuff haha. (You know you want to smoke some snuff )

I do love the smell of pipe tobacco when it burns... There is a cigar shop in San Antonio I've been in, I like to take the tops of the pipe tobacco jars and take big whiffs...

It's true, you can spend a lot of money on pipes if that's your choice. But you don't have to spend a lot to have a decent rack of pipes. My collection is mostly estate (i.e., second-hand) pipes I bought fairly inexpensively on eBay, although I have bought a few pipes brand new. But some of the estates are real treasures. I've got a pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock with a sterling silver band that I won for a ridiculously low bid. The pipe is over 60 years old, and looked brand new when I received it. The only way you could tell it had ever been smoked was from the little bit of carbon caked on the walls of the bowl.

Fortunately, pipe tobacco seems to be exempt from PACT, so you can get your baccy and pipes online. But first, you should read up on the basics: http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=P...ing_techniques

Then order a corncob pipe or two, and pouches of Carter Hall and/or Prince Albert, two very newbie-friendly tobaccos. Minimal expense, in case you decide pipes aren't for you. I recommend marscigars.com, pipesandcigars.com, and smokingpipes.com, but there are other good vendors as well.

Check your local pharmacy store as well. Out here you can get all that at Rite-Aid.

Rite-aid don't exist down here lol. I have a handcarved Jamaican pipe that I'm sure would work fine to play around with some pipe tobacco just gotta find the cheap, decent tasting tobacco. :P
