Just got my Toque order in today along with a trade from across the pond.

I have to say that the menthol is superb! I'm thankful I ordered a 25g tin.

Did I mentioned I love the Menthol?

Knowing your tastes, I suppose that means that Toque Menthol will make icicles form on your face. Sounds good, I'll have to try it.

I think I'm going to be buying a lot of menthol and mint snuffs in future orders. Not really a surprise -- I smoked menthol cigs for decades. I've got a tin of Wilson's Crumbs of Comfort on the way. I was hoping it would arrive today, but no such luck. Probably Monday. In the meantime, I'll have to rely on Toque Cherry Menthol for my menthol/mint fix, unless I decide to add some peppermint oil to my tin of Toque Quit.

I must say that Toque's Menthol isn't as strong as...say...Medicated 99, but it's strong enough for me. It seems to have a natural menthol flavor....in which it's good.

I must say it again....McChrystal's O&G is the best menthol ever.

A lot of people seem to think McChrystal's Original & Genuine is the standard by which to judge all other menthol snuffs. I was planning on getting a tin of it, and a tin of their Hops snuff in my next order.

Toque's Menthol does remind me of O&G in a way, except Toque's is more moist while O&G is more fluffy. Both have very good nicotine level.

The good thing about both of these is after the menthol disappears, you're left with a great, clean tobacco scent.

By the way, Pipe...I'm looking forward to your review of Bourbon. That is the one I have yet to order. I like to compare that to the Scotches.

As far as the Bourbon and the Whisky & Honey... well, let me just say the jury is still out.

When I first tried them, all I got was a smoky bacon-like flavor, exactly the same in both tins. The scent/flavor was almost identical to the flavoring used in those artificial bacon bits made from soy. I was half convinced they were mislabeled tins of Cheese & Bacon. Not a bad flavor, but not at all what I was expecting from snuffs with boozy names.

I took a big pinch of the Whisky & Honey earlier tonight, and it seems to have changed a bit... or maybe my nose has changed a bit. At any rate, I've decided I'm going to wait a while before I review those two. I'm not sure what to think of them yet, and would rather wait and see what develops. Maybe in another week, they'll actually taste like something vaguely resembling their names.

I'm happy to know that you like the snuff, Pipe. I believe that will open a whole new world in exploring what is out there, and there are many.

There are so many I have yet to try...like the Molens de Kralingse, most of the Benard Brothers and F&T's HD toast.

There is indeed the most wonderful variety of snuffs. I feel like the proverbial kid in the candy store. And I like the connection to a tradition with centuries of history behind it, a tradition that seems to be experiencing something of a small revival in the current anti-smoking climate. I know snuff has been used by persons from all social classes, but I tend to associate it with the Beau Brummel sort of figure -- fashionable, courteous, but a bit of a rascal. That's a bit of a draw for me as well.
