I tried the make your own cigs for a few days. But I was a heavy smoker, 2 packs a day, and I found that it required too much of a daily time committment to make my own consistently. I have very few hours of free time a day, and I really did not feel like dedicating at least one of those hours, usually a bit longer, every single day, to making cigs. It got old really fast. If I had been under a pack a day smoker, I would definitely have continued making my own. I liked them, just too much time involved.

Handrolling's where it's at. You want a cigarette, you roll it on an as needed basis. Not only can the size be customized, it makes you smoke less because you can't get one immediately. I never liked using those machines either. I had a guy leave me his machine when he was deployed with the Army. I used it to fill tubes from the dregs of a tin of tobacco. I usually threw out the bottom of the tin because of the small pieces. Using a tube stuffer let me use up the remains. Given the machine was free, I didn't mind so much, but I wouldn't buy one for that purpose.

I am quite good at hand rolling, its just not tobacco I handroll. lol. When it came to ciggies, I like filtered cigs, so I used the injector and the filtered tubes. That just took too much time.

Bear in mind that RYO and MYO smokes, along with most grey market overseas purchases, enable you to enjoy a smoke without that horrible FSC cigarette paper. What I wouldn't give for a carton of Galluoise unfilitered, though. Or that amazing Galluoise rolling tobacco in the light blue pouch. Man, that was good.

Here's three sites that sell the Gauloises. Can't vouch for any of them because I have not placed an order yet.....Dunno if these are chinese made or the "real" deal made in Spain, as they are no longer made in France.

Not yet, but my account hasn't been robbed. So, I suspect it's "legit", as much as that is, for what it is. If it don't show, I'm just out $16. I'll post when they arrive.

I agree that hand rolling is where it's at. I also use D and R - they make great tobacco at great prices. The Stokkebye line is also great (the cigs and pipe tobacco). I use the D and R Three Sails which is great for handrolling because its shag cut. But doesn't blow your head off like Drum or Ryback. Been using it for 2-3 years now.

I have one of the rollboxes for unfiltered. These are not the same as the MYO stuffers - its meant for unfiltered and fits in the palm of your hand. Super cool - crank out 20 or so in 15 minutes, perfectly rolled once you get the hang of it (get the Gizeh rollbox - not the other brands).

Anyhow - just my 2 cents for the smokers out there.

It was much cheaper, till the end of last year when they levied a $22 per lb fed tax on make ur own cigs tobaccy. Before that, it was extremely cheaper. About $2.00 a pack to make ur own.

I quit(mostly) cigs before the new taxes came into effect, but when I was smoking, I paid $15 a week for American Spirit, as opposed to $45 minimum for pre rolled cigarettes. Aside from the tobacco cost, you have to take quantity into account also. I tended to hammer pre rolled smokes, and would go through them much quicker than rolling cigs on an as needed basis. A gram per gram comparison isn't always an accurate cost accounting.

Not really. I emailed the guy over a week ago, thinking it was a total rip off and he'd not even reply, but he did, and said they were mailed a week ago, and told me he had to break the order into 2 packages, so I don't know, other than nothing has come yet. So, I guess it's still wait and see, but the long time is not worth it to me. Well, it wasn't for me, but still. Maybe customs took them, but would one still get a letter?

if they were confiscated by customs I think you would get a letter. Hopefully you get them within the next week. if they turn out to be actual cigs and not bootleg i'll look into getting some unfiltered luckies. I've been having this strong urge to buy some lately

I never used a filter, and I'd only use a machine in the deepest cold of winter when my fingers wouldn't work. I like that American Spirit tin. What's the story behind that?

ah yes, the wonderful trio of American Spirit tins. They just turned up at my local tobacconist one day, saw em, snatched em and that's all the story there is. I'm a sucker for cool tins
