    Snuff Virgin

I do not smoke but I have used Snus for 10+ years. Don't know why but after visiting this forum group and looking at the products Roderick has to offer I felt compelled to try some.

    My first order:
    1 x Toque St. Clements 10g Tin
    1 x Toque Lime Toast 10g
    1 x Toque Original 1g Bullet
    1 x Toque Raspberry Menthol 10g Tin

    Ordered from www.nicotinerush.com

Well I can't really comment on your order as the only one of those I've tried was the original. Snuff is highly addictive though, you'll be making crazy orders in no time! I recommend the Poschls. There a great German menthol snuff.

That looks like a good first order. I haven't had the Raspberry menthol, but the rest are very good. Keep in mind that every snuff company has a house style, and if there's something you find not quite agreeable with Toque, another company might be able to fill the spot. I'm not saying you'll have issues with Toque. They're a world class company, and can hang with the best of the old school makers. Different people take to different styles, and there's more variation between snuff companies and styles than there is in the snus world. So if it /almost/ works, but not quite, you might find something more agreeable with a different company.

Pöschl's Packard's Club, Ozona Raspberry and Wilsons Crumbs of Comfort were on my list as well, but alas I stopped adding things to my cart thinking hell I might not like the experience of snuff itself, so I did not order to heavily initially.

Here's my recommendation for 5 more snuffs from NicotineRush. These should give a bit more insight to the varied styles, though you can't even boil them down to only 5...

          F&T Santo Domingo http://nicotinerush.com/fribourg-tre...o-25g-117.html

          Wilson's IHT #22 http://nicotinerush.com/wilsons-15/w...22-10g-49.html

Ok, I listed 6 :^D You really should try an Irish Toast though. I picked Wilsons, as the tins are smaller, but I prefer F&T. They may be the same(F&T is Made by Wilsons), and I only like the tin better, but it's smaller container if you don't end up liking it.

Bernard Doppelt Fermentiert looks very interesting matter of fact they all look very good. I am not sure how long it takes to receive an order from NicotineRush to San Antonio, TX but maybe I'll have it by the weeks end. I'll update this thread with my review.

Two days. At least how long every order I have gotten to North Carolina from them, at least 5 orders in a bit over a year. Two days, every single one..

Honestly, just start somewhere. I am fan of the Toque for newbies cause it is easier than many. But I tried a whole bunch different when I was new too. then decided to just stick with Toque for the next 6 months.

Just start small. Dose the size of an apple seed. No bigger at first. Soon, you will adjust that to what you think feels best for you. Gently sniff, As gently as you can.

Other than that, have fun. I came to snuff 2 years after starting snus and immediately became completely hooked I now have over 50 tins open. My addition of pipes seems to have slowed down my snuff use a bunch. But still love everything there is about snuff.

              So welcome.

So as I understand it snuff has a very low moisture content and open cans are not an issue like with snus. Should snuff be refrigerated?

Strongly agree with both your original inclinations and lxskllr's recommendations. Like snus, snuff is cheap and varied. It also lasts a long time. Hence, go with as much variety as possible. Between these two lists and the stuff you've ordered, many bases have been covered; toasts, sp's, menthols, fruity menthols, schmalzlers. Lacking are florals,non-menthol fruits, coffees, chocolate, but you can cover those later.

                  Enjoy it.

No. At least I never have. And some of mine are over a year old now open occasionally. Still seem just the same to me.

Why I can have over 50 open. That I use!!!

I like the concept of a $7.95 flat rate shipping that the guys at www.nicotinerush.com offer. I could put a larger order together when I discover what I like, avoid multiple small orders and save some money.

Guys educate me a little, I see the terms Schmalzler, Toast, Scotch, SP and others. Is it the grind of the tobacco like in fine, medium or course? How do you know what you prefer.

Scmalzlers are fermented, generally coarse ground. Toasts are finely ground and toasted, dry to extra dry. Scotch is really dry, american toast. high nic. SP is a medium grind generally scented with bergamont, or other citrus flavors.

You won';t know what you like until you try them all. Kinda like snus.

Ahh I see! How could I have used snus so long and not discovered snuff?
