    Snuff and nicotine

Would anyone here be able to fufill their nicotine needs just using snuff? It seems that even the highest nicotine snuff like Quit, still makes me want a nice stark portion..

I could. I wouldn't be completely happy about it, but it would keep me level headed.

Not me. I'm the opposite. I would be fine without snuff, but I need my snus. I used snuff to fully kick the cigs, but now that it's been a few months, my snuff usage has dropped, and I'm doing fine with just snus.

There are many, many folks on Snuffhouse who use only snuff. I wouldn't, but I know from reading there that many do. Of course, those folks use probably 5 - 50 times or more snuff a day as I do.

I have no interest in trying. I am addicted to how snus delivers nicotine. everything else for me, snuff, my pipes, is just bonus. But snus maintains.

I could. I pray I don't have to. The first few days wold be a bear for those around me. For me snuff is much more like cigarettes in the speed of the hit, and the speed at which it wears off. Which means my snuff usage would go up drastically.

I do sometimes but after a couple of days I get tired of it.

I suppose I could, but I wouldn't like it. I really enjoy both nasal snuff and snus.

And what I enjoy about snuff isn't so much the nicotine, it's the aromas. The little nicotine hit is nice, though, and cools me out more than anything else. That's just a bonus.

And actually, if I decided I was going to quit tobacco totally, I would start using snuff exclusively to ramp down until I felt I could walk away.

That's me exactly. Nicotine doesn't even enter my mind with regards to snuff. I like it for the interesting scents.

If I were to try and replace snus with anything, it would be my pipe long before it would be snuff. I find that I am much happier with my nicotine level long after a pipe.

I am curious. Nicotine intake from a pipe is the same as from snus, from the mucus membranes in your mouth (Normally, don't inhale a pipe). I am curious to see some research to see if the nicotine levels in the blood from pipe smoking stay in a similar fashion to snus.

I've used snuff exclusively for the past six months or so. When i got into nasal snuff, my snus consumption decreased over the weeks until it was zero. Just as snus made me lose my desire for cigarettes, snuff made me lose my desire for snus. I still like snus, but have not had a portion for a while. I suppose I find snuff more engaging and immediate.

I estimate that I use a gram or so of snuff daily.

If snus was no longer available to me, snuff could definitely keep me satisfied, but like others have stated here, I would have to up my intake. I am actually working on finishing up the few tins of los & regular sized portions I have and plan to move down to using minis exclusively. I'm counting on snuff to help me out.

I recently started using nasal snuff, and went through the typical "buy 30 varieties" at Nicotenerush.com (which by the way is one of the most incredible internet business I've ever dealt with). I found my snus intake dropping by at least 50% (it seems I snus about 4-5 times per day now, for about 1/2 hour on each occasion)

Once I got off the cigarettes using snus I found that I actually prefer some nicotene in my system, but not a huge amount. I still have the tins of Thunder and some other Sterk varieties I got when I got into snussing, but now I prefer the "regulars".

At any rate, for me, snuff definitely delivers a palpable nicotene hit, although each variety is different, both in nicotene content, and the way in which it's delivered. For example, McChrystals Mild Lemon delivers a quick, mild hit (along with a great citric acid burn, which then dissipates quickly). If I do a big hit of Poschl President, the hit comes on more slowly, but I don't feel a desire for Nicotene for almost an hour, which is a longer lasting hit than any snus I currently use. Toque Raspberry comes on quickly and is more physical, although it's not exactly what I would call a "rush." McChrystals O&G seems to have an ultra-refined buzz, somehow different than any nicotene high I've ever had.

In general, I find the snuff "high" is cleaner and more cerebral, and somehow less physical, than what I get from snus. Kind of like the difference between Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica.

BTW, since I "quit" smoking, I've slipped a number of times and lit up a cigarette, but each time it felt very coarse and "dirty" compared to the nicotene feeling I get from either snuff or snus.

I like snuff but it sure has a few drawbacks.

                          1. Backdrip into my throat wich is painful.
                          2. Brown runny nose.
                          3. I can only get a nic hit if I take several pinches, back to back. (This leads to more backdrip.)

MCWP....It may be your intake method which is causing the "Backdrip"(or it could be the snuff you are using...American snuffs hit hard in the back of the throat if taken in to hard),If you try "Breathing" in the pinch you are less likely to experience the backdrip.....Just my personal experience of course!

Back to topic: I have to say I prefer snuff over snus for my nicotine fix. That combined with my e-cigs seems to fullfill any urges I have to smoke again.Snuff is an instant hit of nicotine IMO compared to snus which takes longer to kick in.Snus may have the advantage in staying strength....But all of the wonderful scents of snuff make it my second choice to e-cigs. Im just putting a pinch on my hand and gently breathing with it under my nose. It seems no matter how gently i sniff, it finds it way back there. And im not totally new to snuff, I have around 2 years experience.
