    Snuff and Colds

Well I am wondering now if the reason I can't smell the snuff is due to this sinus crap I have had going on for a few weeks now.

I am not snorting the snuff, I am lightly sniffing as instructed and still nothing. I can smell it on my fingers, but not in my nose? Grr.

I don't want to give up, but should I wait until my sinus' are cleared out before giving it another try?

TMI I know, but my snot is green, so I know something is going on up there.

That's why I've layed off of snuff for the last week, can't really enjoy it fully being sick and all.

Well I keep on trying anyway. I just figure 1/2 of it is that I am a newbie and I am placing it wrong. The last time I sniffed too hard and it went in my throat  burned like hell too.

I have a mess of brown crap all over my desk and computer, lol. I will have to get the air out and clean my keyboard later.

        Christi,

Try the don't sniff snuff just smell it. That way it doesn’t hit the back of the throat but just sort of jumps to the front and is safely absorbed. Another method for beginners is licking your forefinger and thumb and rubbing the pinch into your septum.

Buy a neti-pot, I swear by it. Between snuff and my neti-pot I haven't had a sinus problem or cold in years and my hayfever hasn't been back in the last decade.

Where do u even get a neti pot? I watched the video and I am not sure if I can do that, LOL.

I just did like someone else said and cleaned myself out real good in the shower. My sinus' are clear but I cant smell a dang thing. Nothing. Not my coffee, or the baby when she is dirty(which ended up being a mess yesterday). Will I get my smell back?

This is the best neti pot you'll ever find (and then some!!!). It's not expensive for what you get and it'll last a lifetime. http://www.healthandyoga.com/html/product/neti.html ...and I'm saying this from personal experience. You don't need to buy the 'complete kit' or the salt they sell (though salt should be used, not just plain water)... the main thing is the pot itself.

I've been fighting a bit of a cold for the past week, and in my experience, snuff and colds don't mix.

                  Spirit,

Snuff won't help once you've got the cold. Snuff works best as a preventative.

Get yourself a neti-pot to clear your nose and speed up recovery. A Neti-pot will let you breath more easily and will also help prevent further colds and help keep your nose in first class condition.

I should have been a Neti-pot salesman. LOL!

I don't get many colds so I don't think I have had one since I started using snuff but when I had a stomach flu a few weeks ago it totally ruined some snuff for me. Since then I have only been able to stomach FUBAR Grunt and some Poschl menthols. I haven't been able to use any schmalzlers, clove, or even crumbs of comfort that I enjoyed so much before I got sick.

When I get stuffed up, I just rail Red Bull all day. Speaking of which, I think I may have to go raid the couch after my parents go to bed. I'm back with them for now, and although they know about snus, they thoroughly disapprove. Even though it's perfectly legal for me to buy and have, I haven't yet pressed my luck as regards telling them about snuff. I've always kept to my room anywise, so they're none the wiser at present.

I've had a cold all week, with a good bit of sinus congestion. It's really put a damper on my snuffing. I've been using the occasional menthol, but that's about it. It gives an artificial sense of breathing easy, but I'll take what I can get :^)

I was bragging just about the same thing here a couple of weeks ago, then I got this :^D

This is the worst I've felt since I don't know when. It's nothing terrible, but it's really sapped my energy, and the tops of my lungs hurt.

I quit fully from smoking I believe 8-9 years ago. I used to post more often when I was making my transition and have never gone back to cigarettes....
