    Snuff

Here's what I've tried and what I think.

    Kendal Gawith Hoggarth & Co

    Strawberry
Bland, sneeze inducing, dry, perfumed, aroma is pleasant while not at all reminiscent of strawberries. Long lasting aroma. No menthol! :P
    Color is rosy brown.
    Nic hit is minor.

    SP
Another Kendal. I guess SP means plain? Well it is sort of.
Musty, bland, dry, sneeze inducing. Not so much sneezing as the Strawberry. No menthol! :P
    Color pale brown.
    Nic hit is mild.

    Poschl's

    Packard's Club Snuff
    MENTHOL wow!
Moist, fluffy, aromatic, sinus melting, allergy killing goodness! Think Vapo Rub. Next time I get a cold I have to have this around.
The tin has a unique dispenser that slides along one side and pops out too much snuff for me. I've learned to let out just the right amount.
Very nice pick me up. Clear breathing in seconds.
    Color burnt red.
Nic hit.. ? good, might be the mentholated rush?

    Gletscher Prise

    "Colombian menthol" woohoo hoo. 8)
Not the swift kick to the sinus that packard's club has, but very enjoyable. Distinctly different menthol character. Nice pick me up and eye water-er. Leaves a cool sensation for 15 minutes.
    Color brown/red
    Nic hit mild.

    Ozona

    Poschl's as well.

    Spearmint 8)
    Look out Wrigley's!!
What an amazing aroma/flavor! Spearmint is so underrated IMO!
Great balance of soft mint and tobacco in this one.
Moist, soft, fluffy, and slightly mentholated. Flavor is fleeting and has me coming back for more too often.
    Color brown.
    Nic hit minor.

    Orange :P
Spark of citrus that fades faster than a breath.
Moist, fluffy, soft, delicious! Slightly mentholated, very slight.
    Color brown/orange.
    Nic hit minor.

    Raspberry :P
More menthol than the Orange and Spearmint.
Raspberry flavor is a backseat on this one.
Soft and smooth, fluffy snuff. Very nice, subtle fruit.
    Color burnt red.
    Nic hit mild.

    President
    Wow!
First it's not in the round tins as the other Ozona's are.
"I hate liquorice" until I started snusing. It's sweet liquorice I hate.
This snuff is faint liquorice, nice tobacoo, and slight menthol.
Oh soooo nice!! soft fluffy goodness.
Mirror finish to this rectangular snuff box lets you check for Klingons.
    Color brown
    Nic hit mild.

    Gawith

    Cola
    yeah I said COLA.
Fluffy, sharp, more like rootbeer hard candy up your nose.
I like it for sure. :?:
Real change of pace. Hardly any menthol.
    Color brown.
    Nic hit nice.

    Apricot 8)
Nice snuff with a mild menthol prefix. Lingering fruity aroma.
Fluffy goodness. Cool sensation. Hell the box alone will make you cool. It's sorta heavy metal black with the calligraphy font in contrasting white.
    Color dark brown.
Nic hit high side of mild.

I'm still waiting for my Toque to show up. I'll repost after I get to try them. My 13 can deal of Monte' showed up today so I didn't have to disembowel my mailman.

Went through a whole box of Kleenex writing this.

Yeah, thats what I do not understand. Those who snuff like 5 grams a day and only have to blow their noses like once or twice a day.

Since ive been using snuff my trash can makes me look like a chronic masturbator or something.

Other day i had a friend stop by and he was asking why there was a mound of kleenex on top of my desk beside my computer  . I had fun answering that one.

.......yea blame it on the snuff.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Definetly invest in some soft (not white) handkercheifs. I dont snuff anymore but, I now carry them with me to whipe my hands and fingernails after hand baking snus.

For the Toque side of things, i got the absinthe and the original. Both are fine the nic hit wasn't what i was expecting (i was expecting more actually). The absinthe is a strong sent!!! it is semi moist the original is so damn dry! But all in all a good enough product to keep me wanting more.

Hey captn, I agree the Toque flavors are great. You mention the nicotine hit was on the lighter side. I don't have much experience to compare snuffs yet, have you had any that had a noticeably stronger nic hit?

I've only had a couple other brands besides Toque and the nicotine levels seem about the same in all of em to me. The Toque's were quite superior in flavor and freshness by far though.

I think a "sterk" snuff would be great for smokers when first making the switch, if it wasn't for the Sterk Snus' I might not have stuck with it at first. I bet a snuff made with Rustica would blow out the cobwebs bigtime!

Actually there are quite a few snuffs made from tobacco grown in Africa.

Wilsons of Sharrow ( believe that their name ) and a few other big name brands use finely grown tobacco from africa.

It's made in South Africa where production quality is on par with most European companies. I should know as I lived there most of my life and I have a number of friends who work for large US FMCG companies with manufacturing plants out there.

"There are currently approximately 550 US companies with a presence in SA, of which 320 are wholly-owned subsidiaries. 80% percent of these US companies are based in Gauteng, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

ICT, machinery & equipment, construction and finance form the largest sectors followed by chemicals and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, motor and transport manufacturing, and freight. 23% of the US companies in SA are Fortune 500 companies"

Over at snuffhouse there is a debate on if the Taxi snuff is ment for oral or nasal. It is corse ground almost like a snus. It is a huge seller in South Africa.

I acctually got a can of Taxi, i snuffed it. The red is as strong as they say. It was a great nic hit. Yeah its a course but not to bad on the Nose.

I am not the expert on snuff'n yet so i can't really recomend one that has a superior nic content since i have only used snuffs from 5 different companies.

ok, then that's not so bad. I remember reading about some of the curing methods in Africa and India for smokeless tobacco and the carginogens were through the roof. This must be a completely different deal. Some of the stuff I read about was 50 times higher in harmful products than American tobacco
