    Good non-mentholated snuffs

Along with switching to snus, I've also gotten into snuff (thanks to this site), so I'm very, very new to snuff. I ordered some Poschl online and as it turns out I don't like the menthol at all. I was excited to try the Apricot, but it just overwhelmed me with the menthol.

I read through this: http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...Guide-to-Snuff but I need help. I take it that the "floral snuffs" are not mentholated...? Because if so maybe I'd like those more. Or the SP's. I'd like to try different stuff, but I don't want to waste my money on stuff I just can't use. Any recommendations?

If all else fails I'll just stick with plain snuffs... What are some good ones?

All help appreciated. I've read other people mention they don't like the mentholated snuffs too.

You know, there is a lot of snuff out there and your best bet is to order a ten tin sampler from Toque.

Get the SP, a floral, Spanish Gem, Berwick Brown and a couple others that sound good to you.

You should get a good idea of where your nose wants to go.

But, from reading the guide to snuff, you may know to skip the toast (or only order one the first time out).

I thought I'd read that most of the Toques were mentholated. So I guess they aren't...?

No ... while they have ample mentholated selection to choose from ... they have the standard / traditional flavors. They do fruit and others quite well. Their Toffee, Vanilla, Coke and Chocolate are very good.

But go with the traditional too ... Toque Original, SP Extra for the SP experience ... Natural Toast for the the Toast experience ... but you will get an idea of what you like/don't like pretty quickly.

Then you can expand into Wilsons, F&T, Samuel Gawith, Gawith and Hoggarth, 6Photo, etc. and really expand the palette.

Spanish Gem is certainly one of my everyday snuffs ... i am with Monkey on that.

The only toques that are.mentholated state they have menthol in them...no surprises.

Hit up.the website toquesnuff dot com and check out the flavors....

I suggest ten 10g tins to start....

Then branch out to tlothet makers if you want...

Thanks for the help! I will check out Toque then first, and start expanding from there.

Toquesnuff.com is the way to go, roderick is a top notch business man with some fantastic products! He will take good care of you and you will love toque snuff, everyone likes atleast one toque flavor. I mix em up too, like coke and cherry snuff, to make a cherry-cola flavored snuff!

If anyone is interested, check the first page of the tobacco exchange, I have some snuff listed in my post for sale or trade, including a non-mentholated apricot, and I believe spanish gem is listed too as well as other flavors/brands, check it out and send me a PM if you see anything you like

                    EDIT: Here- http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...bacco-Exchange

Check post #7, I can also do samples of various snuffs including toque quit/sp extra/dholakia black and others

Kaplan there are many hundreds of snuffs available--the variety is overwhelming to put it mildly. The ten tin Toque sampler is a very sound idea. A few fruits, a toast, an SP (Original) and round it out with whatever non-menthol variety you can. There won't be a better method of exploring snuff types than this. Keep in mind that ten gram tins are fairly inexpensive and the tendency to go nuts with ordering a big selection can be very strong. Order the ten and get settle in with them for a while. If you have trouble with sniffing the products just try the pinch and wipe method. Take a small amount and instead of sniffing it just apply it directly to the inside of your nostril. It's a bit inelegant but this method cuts way down on sneezing and getting snuff into the back of your throat. Enjoy.

Yeah coke, SP extra, peach, vanilla, toffee, quit, natural (not tried assume it's like quit), berrwick brown, and anything is good. I would get a couple toasts (whiskey and honey, natural toast, bourbon, lime toast) those are a little harder to use but good also SP extra and Quit aren't toasts but they're finer ground.

Yeah, that's why I needed some guidance. And I've gotten some great leads from this thread, I'm quite happy. Snuff is so cheap, given how long it lasts, but still I'd rather try to narrow it down. I know there's some great snuffs I'll love out there, but I'm going on faith. Poschl and the menthols are not for me. The only other snuff I'm familiar with I bought in the only place I know that sells any kind of snuff in town. I got two cans of W.E. Garrett, one Sweet and one Scotch. I'm not crazy about either one, but I took a spoonful of each, mixed them together, and found that they sort of canceled out what I liked least about each. I've been using it for the past week and a half. But I need and want something better. Still, it's shown me that I do indeed like snuff, and I've got fairly decent at using it without any issues. Funny thing is I've never sneezed while using snuff.

I tiried everything when I first started and still like to sample different snuffs. But for me after much experimenting find that I now use Wilson's Tom Buck 75%

Stuklu........I love TB................that said if you have never tried McChrystal's Hopfen Snuff you have got to get some..............It is in the same scent family as TB but less sweet and a bit more earthy. It is an absolutely fantastic variation on the SP

I'll start with Dholakia White. This is absurdly fine. I can sniff a scotch or a toast all day without any complaints but this snuff is finer than dust....
