Tom Buck & Queens Extra Strong

    The same snuff.

Similar to the Best S.P. but much drier and citrusy giving a sharper after effect on the nose.
IMO it's as strong as any snuff out there but not stronger.
Dry enough to be used in a bullet but sniff carefully.

It's a great snuff and I'd buy this again.

      Bergamot bergamot bergamot

Bergamot snus, Bergamot snuff, Bergamot tea, hair gel, hemorrhoid cream, and 2 cycle engine cleaner

I can tell you one thing…………… somewhere in Europe about 150 years ago there was one hell of a Bergamot salesman

That was my view back then………and I was happy with that view………….I wasn’t bothering anybody…….and then I took part in a box pass over at snuffhouse.org

Inside were several dusty dry tins of various Wilson SPs (I think they were from the 1300s maybe earlier….they had hieroglyphs on them)

After painstakingly loving them back to a state of semi hydration, I gave the SP line another try after almost a year of willful rebellion and self-imposed embargo.

Damn it……………I loved every single one………………….Now the whole lot is on order…………… Tom B, Best SP, Toasted 20, and Grand Cairo

I’ll give review when the fresh snuff arrives. But even those old dusty tins were oh soooo good

GC is a very unique SP. There is a distinct smell of coriander (?) along with a spicier more noticeable tobacco base. This tastes like something that you might expect from Indian snus maker Dholakia. It is very good but may catch you off guard if you are not expecting it. Try it and if you don't like it at first then set it aside and try it later (when you know what to expect)

Update: the above was based on one of the old tins I got in the box pass. The fresh tin is much more balanced and SP like. The coriander is still there but plays a subtle and supporting role in the background. In the old tin it's like everything else faded around it, leaving the coriander to stand out in a far more pronounced manner.

Regardless, Grand Cairo is one of my favorite SPs from Wilsons (if not my favorite). I will spend some more time with the fresh tin and write a proper review later. However, you might consider getting a small 5g tin and letting it dry out. It really makes for a very interesting "negative" picture of the fresh snuff

Grand Cairo is easily my favorite SP from Wilsons. I feel like I get a very balanced citrus from that one, with a good tobacco aroma (maybe I am mistaking the coriander for tobacco?) where most of the others I have tried are strong on the citrus.

It seems that this thread has suddenly become about the GC and not the TB. I will rectify this transgression by saying that TB is a dry SP with a good flavor and kick. Definitely worth a try if you are interested in snuffs that fall into any of those categories (SP, high nicotine, invigorating aroma).

Tom B is one of Wilsons strongest flavored SPs with the Bergamot/citrus playing up front and loud (but in a very good and non overwhelming way). Despite its boldness Tom remains balanced and well behaved (easily an all day snuff). It is par for the course in the Nicotine department with a nice grind and moisture level.

At the same time, there are a good deal of other flavors coming into play in this snuff that make TB complex and far more than a monochromatic Bergamot dump. At times I think I even detect a bit of menthol there (or maybe it is some floral combination that bears an ever so slight and flickering resemblance to Packard's Club).

IMO this is the Wilsons SP to start with. The flavor is both classic SP and bold enough that it will easily define and identify the genre for you (later you can go for the subtle nuances and variations). It lingers nicely in the nose but not so long as to be intrusive. It does not overwhelm the senses nor does it leave the snuffer searching for the flavors.

Regardless until you have tried this and Grand Cairo.............your just not cool and the chicks won't dig you.

Damnit! Looks like yet another snuff order is in my future pre-PACT. I just had my first go with Tom Buck and it certainly won't be the last. As other's have said, I can easily see this one dropping in my daily rotation. Hell I might even get brave and do a line in front of the fiance' next time she steps out on the porch to light of a f...ing cig. Nice nic kick, complex flavorings - yes!, and I dig that slight subtle yet *bam* french whore-isk perfumy scent I'm catching as an aftertaste...

If you tend to think SP snuffs are a bit dainty and effete, you haven't yet tried WoS Tom Buck/Queens Extra Strong. Yes, it has the same citrus and floral notes as any other SP, but in spades. The "queen" in this picture is a 300 lb, muscular, hairy-backed and bearded leather-clad dominatrix drag queen named Bergamot who busts down your door smoking a big fat cheroot, screaming "DON'T F**K WITH ME, FELLAS!!!" The kicker is, when she beats the crap out of you, you're going to love it.

Other than the powerful explosion of bergamot, TB/QES contains the usual suspects -- a bit of lavender and probably half a dozen other florals, at least. I agree with Dog that there may be a touch of menthol hiding under all those flowers. If not menthol, then something with a similar cooling, sinus-opening effect. Maybe it's just me, but I think the nicotine hit is a good deal harder than the average WoS snuff... or maybe I'm just still reeling from the bergamot beating. Color is a medium brown, grind is very fine (which could also have something to do with the nic hit), and moisture level is somewhat dry, but not as dry as a toast or Scotch.

So open up a tin of TB/QES and take your lumps like a man. And be nice to drag queens, or you may regret it.
