I don't doubt it tastes fine. I'm more concerned about lead, mercury, and cadmium from the production process. I don't think Indians are as concerned about purity of ingredients, as other counties are.

I use Wilsons of Sparow Menthol Plus. Its supposed to be the most similar to the old Dr. Rumleys Mentholyptus snuff. Which IMHO is the best for my tastes.

I bought a tin of Ozona orange and a raspberry last week also. Haven't opened the rasp. as I'm in the middle of a Dean Swift rasp. but the Ozona orange is pretty good...though as a kid my mom fed me children's chewable tylenol when I got fevers, so the scent/taste kinda reminded me of that. But it's a good snuff, I like it better than Gawith's apricot made also by Pöschl.

That's good to know. I probably still won't get their snuff though. It's a bit of a mental thing with me. Snuff should be from old Europe, and India just doesn't /feel/ right for me. It took a bit of work to get myself to buy Toque because they're so new. What ended up selling me on them was the easy ordering and shipping(In addition to Roderick coming to our forums).

My future orders will include McCrystals, that Dutch company that makes snuff with a windmill(how cool is that?), Wilson's of Sharrow, Pöschl(gotta support the fatherland :^D), F&T(made by Wilson's), and Christmas Joy, by Bespoke(because it sounds delicious).

I wouldn't let a fruit-flavored german snuff determine whether or not your a snuffer or not. Try some Wilson's, Gawith, or F&T's. I think a snuser would enjoy the American snuffs more or just homemade dry toast snuff from rolling tobacco. Just pure tobacco flavor w/ plenty of nicotine.

I recently took advantage of Rodericks free sample offer and liked it so much I made a full order a couple of days later. Shortly thereafter I made another even larger order. I can snuff all day long, and have been since it makes for a great adjunct to snus.

Toques flavors are excellent imo, admittedly though I have very little experience with this form of use. Snuff gives me a quick little pick me up, then begs for another minutes later.

The only other snuff's I've had other than Toque's are Tube Rose and another called "Sweet as a Peach". These are pretty tasty too but bring on huge sneezing fits with an irritating burn making me wonder how anyone could enjoy that. I've not had these problems with Toque's products for some reason. I only wish the new Toast's were posted a day sooner! No cal, sugar free candy, with nicotine if that sounds appealing to you.

Nic, I have been trying these snuffs and its true, the german stuff is too much like Vicks Vaporub. OK once in a while, but I gotta get me some of that American Spirit tobacco and try that. You just mix it with baking soda? How much? And what is the baking formula? How important is the baking soda as well?

I tried the Wilson's Irish High Toast and loved it. If American Spirit can taste like that, that would be great. I want something toasty like that.

For a mild toast, put it in the oven @ around 250 until you notice the aroma - it will smell like you're cooking a loaf of bread.

For a dark, robust toast. Put the unground tobacco on a frying pan, and cook it until it darkens and releases the aroma. Grind after toasting - this will result in an ultra fine snuff: the darker you toast it the finer it will be. The more finely ground it is, the stronger it is, but its also harder to snuff: you can play around with how finely ground you make it in your coffee grinder.

The baking soda is in no way essential. I just keep adding very small amounts until it gets the desired amount of extra nose-burn. Careful though, adding baking soda will make your nose run quite a bit more.

You can use Daughters and Ryan's additive free blends, but honestly all tobacco is going to have a very similar aroma post toasting. You can "flavor" your snuff after grinding by putting it in a tupperware container w/ a wadded paper towel scented with whatever you want (lemon oil, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, orange juice). This will also add some moisture to the snuff and make it easier to take.

Good Lord! If you want an eye opener, get the Menthol!! I've only had a few German snuffs[Pöschl's Gawith and Ozona] and Dean Swift[English]...but Toque's menthol is absolutely killer. It doesn't sit and collect in your nose like some other snuffs, it's a bit more moist and easier to use. I think with proper marketing and good timing, Toque could be a very popular item in specialty tobacco shops.
