My idea was to ween myself off of dip. First can of Smokey Mountain I made about 75% dip: 25% Smokey Mountain. Next can 50/50, 25/75, and so on until eventually I was just dipping the herbal non-tobacco dip. Things were going great....and then well, I don't have to tell you what happened next, we've all been there.

But you may actually like the stuff and it work for ya.
I tried that stuff too just to try it. I felt the exact same way. My brain was kind of "expecting" the nic and made me want a real chew.

I tried a bunch of these back before snus, when I was trying to quit dipping. Smokey Mountain is a very earbal tasting concoction. Very artificial tasting sweet. Cut and texture was the closest to dip I found. Hooch? Do not remember much about it so it probably wasn't that good. Blue Whale was the nastiest crud I have ever put in my mouth. It stinks and tastes even worse and it was very mushy and messy. The best thing overall was Oregon Mint Snuff. Think they have mint, wintergreen and cinnamon flavor. Very messy and sticky but it tastes good. NONE of these are comparable to tobacco. They are simply for oral fixation. You're not going to find anything near Copenhagen's flavor. Needless to say, none of these were successful at luring me away from dip. Only snus could do that.

There is a tobacco-free dip called Blue Whale. It's made with black tea leaves and nicotine extract. Here's a link about it:

I wonder if a tobacco-free snus with nicotine extract would ever catch on? Probably not...

I could be mistaken but I do not believe that Oomph has much actual tobacco in it.

Oomph/wise/Northerner is just purified tobacco, but tobacco none-the-less.

I'm not too sure about that one. Technically speaking, nicotine gum and patches still contain minuscule amounts of tobacco, since the nicotine is extracted from tobacco leaves. I would guess that Oomph has a very low level of tobacco, but probably contains more than NRT porducts.

                I think you're right.

Northerner/Oomph is about the size of a thin chicklet and once wetted under the lip a few minutes it becomes really discreet; so much so that at times one thinks it's not really there!

Good descriptions would be: unobtrusive .. inconspicuous .. unnoticeable .. subtle.

Perfect for those special moments -- even when double-barreled!!

                  Oomph

                  Contents: Absolutely Purified Tobacco
                  Sweetners: Maltitol E966
                  Xylitol E967
                  AcesulfamK E951
                  Fillers: Avicel, Vegetable Fibers E460
                  Softener: Glycerol E422
PH Regulating Agent: Baking Soda E500

My guess is that Oomph has way more fillers than tobacco. I don't taste any tobacco when I use Oomph. I like it though as the flavor is very mild but lasts a long time. Maybe RickCharles will see this thread and tell us a bit more about Oomph.

I'll vouch for that for all the ones I've tried: Citrus/Menthol, Wintergreen,
                    and Licorice/Lemon (all 6mg).

Need to try the Boost (Honey & Peppermint with caffeine, guarana, etc)
and the unflavored Wine & Dine (which I might vacuum-marinade with
                    various flavors).

The Boost has great flavor. It isn't something I could see using all day (the 'mouth feel' is weak), but it's a great first for the day.

OK so tell us more about Oomph. How much tobacco is actually in there and why does the flavor lasts so long? It is very mild but I have actually fallen asleep with a citrus menthol in my mouth and can still taste it when I wake up.

As others have said, it is indeed tobacco that undergoes a "purification" process...now that info is proprietary and I'm not in the loop, lol. But yeah, it's tobacco. I'll try and find out a bit more info tomorrow.

Too bad you guys couldn't get Oomph classified as an NRT and avoid the tobacco tax.
