There are actually two companies that make Camel............one in Europe which makes a real Swedish snus that is very good.............the other here in the states which makes the flavored crap they call snus.........two very different products.Originally posted by BabyCamel actually have been in the smokeless for a while, they have a verity of flavors. I think when a lot of folks saw the new tin, they were hoping it was a new product along the lines of Swedish snus entering the American marketWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I had a can , its around here somewhere, that I got in Florida around 4 or 5 years ago.
I was Camel Dip, cut just like Grizzly snuff, called Camel Dark Milled.
Was over $5 a can, way too much, but I loved the Natural flavor and the can was in a class of its own when it comes to dip cans. Very sturdy and sealed well.
Im surprised that they do not pursue dip harder. Would sell much better than their snus I would assume, but they pretty much have the American snus market by themselves.

I went back and clarified this with the lady that I assumed was the manager and found out I was mistaken over the source of this can. Turns out this was part of a test market. Apparently a very exclusive test market if I'm not mistaken. According to the REAL manager, there are only a few stores in the country that have these right now. Now I just wish I could be part of a test market for some odens.Originally posted by crullersMakes me wonder if maybe an RJR sales rep was showing it to the owner/manager etc. and left it there on accident.

I've been taking the occasional pinch of Copenhagen, and don't really have to spit. Sometimes I spit a couple times when I first put it in, but I don't really have to. It's a nice diversion, but I don't think I'd want to use it full time.Originally posted by GoVeganOK well it looks like Camel got the can right this time. Now if they could just fill it with snus and not dip. I would try it but the thought of carrying a spit can around doesn't sound appealing.

I have bad memories of dip after swallowing some Skoal in the 8th grade. If I absolutely couldn't find snus, I would use leaf chew. The leaf has always agreed with me for some reason.Originally posted by lxskllrI've been taking the occasional pinch of Copenhagen, and don't really have to spit. I tried both the dark milled and wide-cut wg about 3 years ago in Disneyland. They were only in a few test markets at the time. From what I remember the dark milled fine cut was a very good natural tobacco but the wg a little weird. and I am a fan of wintergreen.
but yes it is dip. I wish somebody would make another attempt at similar longcut, fine cut snus products. V2 thunder was okay (stronger then hell) and I was a big fan of the fresh wg offroad (only when it was shipped directly from Sweden).. Never cared for the mentholated orange,apple,robitussen flavors though. It shows however that the cut of the tobacco can be done but getting the flavor acceptable to dippers standards has been challenging.

@hokiehi82: Check your PM box.
@truthwolf1: I passed on the wintergreen, but the Dark Milled was very good. From what I remember it was kind of like a cross between Grov and Southern Blend Copenhagen. Not something I would use everyday, but I could see it selling quite well if it was priced below Copenhagen.
