    Tastes like Gustavus.

I stick with my previous statement that I will not try any Olde Viking flavor until they name it Grendel Blood. Or Beowulf Ball Sweat.

If this is what life is going to be like after PactAct then bend over.
I was at work when the mail man left my slip. The post office is a PITA to got to, wait in line, and sign for a package.

That being said, THANKS GAJANE!!! I appreciate the sample very much!

Now. Are any of you guys serious? Is the can design part of the review? How many of us bought and used Roda Lacket while it was psychedelic crayon and jagged angle design?!?
The molds that made the Tourney cans are being put to good use if you ask me. I always think I won't need a catch lid until I have a can of snus without one though.

As far as the actual SNUS goes. Here's what I think.
Nice and plump portions. No one likes a floppy half full or less portion. When I buy tobacco I expect to get some tobacco. Gajane filled these soft pillows of nicotine goodness nice and fat. They topped them off with a nice amount of moisture. Just the way I like regular portions. Goldilocks style.... moist, but not soggy.

I smelled black pepper when I opened the can. The first portion was surprising, mostly because the can was sealed with clear shrink plastic around the rim. Nice. I guess being an American and living through the Tylenol poisoning has me thinking something's fishy if there isn't a seal to break on anything I'm ingesting.

I had the first portion before jumping into my car. Now- I gotta be honest. My car is my weakness. I smoke cigarettes when I drive. One or two a day at most, but something about cracking the window and flying down the road makes me want a coffin nail. Well, I arrived at my destination without lighting up.

I'd say this snus is slightly above average nicotine. 9 or 10mg by my barometer.

The flavor is salt and hops and dried orange peels. Salt and tobacco... I can see the comparisons to Gustavus and Granit for sure. Retro always tasted like gym socks to me. I like a blue cheese twang now and then. Olde Viking does not have it. GOOD. It does taste very good.

The portion is extremely comfortable. Plump, soft, and full. I had the good little lump that helps keep my anxiety down. Sometimes for some reason if i have a mini portion or a flat under-filled portion in I feel like something's wrong. Olde Viking Original is like having a two click 4ml Icetool prilla in.

I had the first portion in for an hour. I had a Pepsi about thirty minutes into it. IT WAS GOOD. It passed the Pepsi test. When I got to about 40 minutes is when I noticed the nicotine was running steady and strong. Like Thunder, but without the paranoia.

After dinner I had my third portion. (put one in before food came to table- sure fire way to make your food show up at a restaurant) So, I'm driving away from the restaurant and laughing and talking when I came up to a red light. Without thinking I opened the door and spit. For a second I thought I had a dip in. This snus is not flavorless by any means. It's not something that is distinctly flavored either. Never burned my throat, but I never thought, "this snus is spent and I should spit the portion out." I spit it out to eat and when my nicotine level was feeling good.

The flavor is dynamic. The pepper taste fades first, but the salt goes strong the whole time. I did get a slight floral aroma from the snus, not so much a taste, a nice aroma.

Overall I'd say this snus is a winner. Would I use it work? No, probably not. Fat lip and juicy flavor would be awkward at the office. Would I reach for this at home, a bar, a party, or any other time of day? Hell Yeah!

I hope it's not "Limited Edition" like the can says. I hope it's available post June, whatever. If I didn't have snus stuffed into every square inch of my freezer right now I'd order a roll of this right now. Unfortunately, my marriage has no room for more snus. My PACT ACT is coming excuse has run it's course.

GAJANE has a win with Olde Viking Original Portion!

It made me a spit for a few portions, not all. I think it's good. My can was unsealed. I just signed the slip and stuck it on the mailbox, and it was dropped off.

I just popped my first one about 20 minutes ago and it's really pretty nice. I'm picking up more of a juniper taste than bergamot, some bitterness and a touch of salt. I just got a bit of the flowery note that's very similar to Gustavas.

It still often initially gives me some slight heartburn and makes me wanna spit, but then it mellows out, and it not bad at all. I don't get any juniper though, isn't that what what GR2 is?

                It's what's in gin too.
