I get so tired of saying "same" and "this" to you, Mr. Poe ;O)Originally posted by lxskllrGrov/Ettan and coffee.
I also like Röda Lacket and hot tea very much. I was getting into Röda and cola, but I'm mostly off soda now. Le sigh.

sodas disgusting and basically the worst thing you can ingest anyway. i drink tea, coffee, water, beer, and whiskey. actually if you can find it at a health food store, theres some awesome soda called blue sky thats made from all natural shit. i like the imperial lime, made with green tea.Originally posted by MojoQuestorI get so tired of saying "same" and "this" to you, Mr. Poe ;O)Originally posted by lxskllrGrov/Ettan and coffee.

You're right about the soda. I remember a quote by Elvis Costello from years ago, nearly word-for-word, WRT a particular brand of soda: "Bloody sugar water! Who'd want to drink that? Not me!" I was a soda pig at the time so it kind of stung, but, yeah, it's garbage and of no real nutritional value. Even the diet stuff is bad for your kidneys, or so I'm told. I guess a can or two a day is not too bad, but I can leave the diet alone. Things went wrong when everything switched to the damned corn sweetener anyway, IMHO. For a while I was drinking this grocery store brand "Natural Cola" that only contains cane sugar, natural flavoring, and water; filtered water, IIRC. No colorings; even the root beer is clear.Originally posted by daruckissodas disgusting and basically the worst thing you can ingest anyway. i drink tea, coffee, water, beer, and whiskey. actually if you can find it at a health food store, theres some awesome soda called blue sky thats made from all natural shit. i like the imperial lime, made with green tea.Originally posted by MojoQuestorI get so tired of saying "same" and "this" to you, Mr. Poe ;O)Originally posted by lxskllrGrov/Ettan and coffee.

I'll check out the Blue Sky if I see it. Thanks. That sounds interesting.
I went soda-free for a while, and now I'm doing it again, "soda-free" meaning I might have one once in a while, but water, coffee, and tea are my main things now. Beer I can take or leave, and although it has nutritional value, a friend of a friend made the comment that it's basically like liquid bread. I'll have one once in a while. I like a glass or two of red wine now and then. Whiskey... mm, I like whiskey. It's only an occasional treat, though.
Remember, I'm an old fart, so I worry about stuff you don't necessarily need to... yet.

I used to drink regular soda but the sugar was taking its toll on my teeth and eventually I made the switch to diet. Now I can't stomach regular soda at all.
Anyway, 31 years old and I have drank nothing but soda (diet and otherwise) since I was six. No, really, I don't drink water, tea, coffee, etc. I do have a glass of juice about once a month or so, and a somewhat excessive amount of assorted alcoholic beverages lately (... long story...) but it's all soda all the way as far as hydration goes. Roughly 6 liters a day of Diet Dr. Pepper or its generic equivalent.
Thus far, aside from my left eye, I'm in excellent health. No kidney problems, although I did read a little blurb my mom sent me ... honestly, the evidence was lacking. I'll consider it relevant when there's a solid study backing the kidney damage thing, not just a presentation a nurse made at a convention.

That's fair enough. I don't have any hard evidence to the contrary, just overheard babble. Meantime, I probably missed where you explained about your eye, if you did (not that I'm asking; I don't consider it any of my business), but I knew there had to be something to your choice of avatars.Originally posted by KaranyaThus far, aside from my left eye, I'm in excellent health. elvis costello rules. natural cola sounds interesting. i do drink the occasional soda, but i like to find the more interesting brands, like george weinhardts root beers and shit. im sure, like most things, in moderation soda cant be that bad for you.Originally posted by MojoQuestorYou're right about the soda. Yeah. I think moderation is the key with most everything. I do remember Eddie Van Halen saying something to the effect that God gives everyone a great big bottle of alcohol when they are born, and he just drank his up real fast. In my case, my lack of moderation with (regular) soda when I was younger means I can't have quite as much now as I otherwise could have. Just my opinion, the way I look at things, YMMV, etc.Originally posted by daruckiselvis costello rules. natural cola sounds interesting. i do drink the occasional soda, but i like to find the more interesting brands, like george weinhardts root beers and shit. im sure, like most things, in moderation soda cant be that bad for you.
Then let's talk cigarettes--nah, let's not ;O)
