V2 Test Review... Lemon Dew

I still haven't gotten my samples, but this one sounds like the one that I will really enjoy.

OK, so tonight I play follower and just did my first Lemon Dew

To me, the smell reminded me of the Ajax Lemon dish soap I use. The flavor is just off, I can tell why some have said it is like lemon soap, there is just this really bad aftertaste.

Shame, because I really like the lack of sweetness, and I'm not sure just sweetening it would make it any better. What, sweet lemon soap??? I would place with the banana as just a snus that kinda misses the mark. Not as "right" as the clove, Mandarin, or even Moonshine.


I'll force a 2nd a bit later. Need to let it warm up a bit to get a true taste test.

Well I am done being first. i just seemed to get mine before anyone. So maybe you can slide in :wink:
Back to the Dew.So 2nd portion not straight out of the freezer, and definitely *slightly* better. Less soap taste, but aftertaste is still a bit off to me. In many ways, not a bad snus, other than that off taste. But there is a bitterness, especially in the beginning, that is too much for me. I mean, at times, I like a little bitter as much as the next one, But this just goes to far for me

So far, my rankings, which ARE subject to change

1. Clove *
2. Mandarin *
3. Moonshine *
4. Banana
5. Lemon Dew

* means I would recommend that V2 produce these. Note, even though I hated Moonshine, it is in my include list. The taste is pure, *right, even if I disliked it. so far, my non goes share one thing, the taste is just off to me.

I like the Lemon Dew, pretty sure Mango Creme is my fave so far, but Woodstock mentioned some points that are similar to my thoughts. I liked this one, but might like it better if the flavor was "turned down" just a notch or two. I can see where you guys are getting the "dish soap" thing, but that's not stopping me from enjoying this one. I do like that it's "true lemon" flavor, many snus companies mention "citrus notes" or a hint of citrus, but this one does taste like discernable lemon.

After another round of testing I need to rephrase my opinion.

I still don't like it, but ... after leaving the top off the can overnight, to try and "age" it, it lost some of the soapy smell. Then this afternoon, I bought a Mountain Dew to go along with it. Now I get the flavor. The bitterness is still there but upon reflection I think that is more a sourness, than true bitterness.

So in conclusion, It's still last on my list of ones I've tried, but I'll happily retract the "Horrible" description.

Lemon Dew...

This one is far less wet than the others I have tasted which is neither a good or bad thing. It just works.

This flavor is by far my favorite that I have had so far. It tastes like taking a sip of mountain dew while eating a lemon sour patch kid. It is sweet, then it is sour, then it is sweet again. The juice gives off that sour sort of tickle in your throat like you just ate something way sour (think warheads candy). On top of the sweet/sour battle that goes on, this one has this great peppery feel to it.

After it has been in for a but, the sweet/sour battle mellows into a soothing lemon that reminds me of a citrus aroma therapy candle or something. At this point, the mix between the peppery tobacco and the lemon reaches a perfect balance.

This flavor is like a mellow, less-sweet version of Skoal citrus blend.

I can see myself enjoying this one quite a bit. I'll update as to whether this is still enjoyable after a few more portions.

Great. You know how it must go, NONE of us are gonna agree. This is my worst snus and you love it!! I can just imagine Patrick hitting himself in the head and going "Why did I ever think I would learn anything from those wackos on Snuson."

Keep in mind that this is only the 3rd one I have tasted. I still have 6 more to go before I have done just one round of testing. YOu guys gou your snus a good week before me.

Scent/Appearance
This snus smells fresh, lemon fresh. The portions are juicy and moist.

Flavor/Comparison
The portion is bursting with flavor at first, and like Xobe said, there is a definite battle between sweetness and sourness that happens in your mouth with this product. The sweet and sour extremes of the lemon mingle in what can best be described as a discordant harmony; however, lurking in the background is a slightly bitter taste reminiscent of soap.

The lemon in this snus reminds me somewhat of the citrus in Phantom (my favorite snus, btw), in that it is very unique and noticeable. Unfortunately, I find the lemon in this snus to be overpowering, lacking a balance that would be created if either there was a comingled tobacco flavor, or a decrease in the strength of the lemon. The flavor balances more as you keep the portion in longer, but for my tastes, it's a bit too powerful.

Conclusion
Lemon is not my favorite flavor in general. Overall, I personally would enjoy this snus more if the lemon flavor was not so strong. The greatest strength of this snus is that the flavor is very true to its name.
