So its in my mouth, then what...

Ok i have been advised to begin with mini portions to get me used to the nicotine, which so far has never entered my body, (really)So once i put it under my top lip..

How long is it supposed to be there?
    Do i suck?
How many should i use on a daily basis?
    Will it rot my teeth?

I imagine this type of question is getting quite tiresome to you experienced users lol, but i gotta start somewhere.

    Thanks.

      WARNING! PARENTAL MESSAGE BELOW!

If you are not addicted to nicotine, spit it out and go bowling or something.

Tobacco addictions are expensive and potentially deadly. Even snus, which is 100 to 1000 times less harmful that cigarettes can cause health issues.

That being said, snus is usually a passive action. Pop it in, let it do it's magic. Usually it takes about 10-15 minutes for the nicotine to get into your body. I usually keep one in for 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the brand and what I am doing. I usually use between 10 and 14 portions a day depending on the day, but I was a 2 pack a day smoker and I smoked for over 20 years.

As long as you have good oral hygiene habits it shouldn't cause too much of a problem. Just brush as usual and don't get all crazy with it.

After a bit (10 or so minutes with whites, less with regular portions) the flavor starts to flow some. The more you mess with it the more flavor you get too.

Thank you for this. Once I realized Xobe was linking to my thread I was going to paste your dissertation here.

          I guess I just did...

hey it might be his first time snusing, but let him do it if he wants to. For all we know he needs something to stop sniffing rags

Hey, I have no problems with people joining the ranks of us fellow snusers at all. I just like to remind people that it is inherently bad and it costs money that can be used for other things.

To some people, tobacco is a great self medication. I bet most of us fall into that category somehow.

Back to your regularly scheduled snus thread!

If one is not addicted to nicotine, why start?

However you may have the addict gene in your system and you will dabble with everything.

Then 10 yrs later you may hit bottom, visit various rehabs. and find the only one you cant quit is nicotine.

                      ok but first ask

do you have any mental disorders...adha,schizo,add,...etc?

because nicotine might actually help with those a bit..so it might be a good thing if he starts...

                      all depends on the circumstances

try it if you want to...we wont stop you...just be sure you know what you're getting into  lol

I know I do. I'm somewhat on the anxious side and nic is a big help in keeping that down.

Thank you Darry for posting that graph. I am currently having some trouble with my heart. I had a stress test a few days ago and I only have 50% blood flow to my heart now. I have an appointment with my cartiologist in four days for more tests. I have to take my blood pressure about every hour and I know nicotine can raise ones blood pressure. I have been checking my BP before putting in a portion lately. Your graph gives me a guide as to when I can expect a rise in BP so I can take that into account. I would love to stop nicotine altogether but it seems that it has an outward calming effect but apparently inside the body it isn't so calming. Doc said to take a valium whenever I feel the need untill I go for my appointment. Anyway, over the weekend I will be checking my BP before I put in a snus, at the 10 minute interval and the 35 minute interval, as the last 2 are the peaks of absorption. It will be interesting to see what the effects are. I just hope I live long enuff to post results.

hell, for all I know snus might be keeping me alive. Wouldn't that be a hoot.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
