Are all snusers brand disloyal?

My first order was a try out box with different snus and I figured I would try them all and stick with the one I liked best. With cigarettes most people stick with the one brand.

However, on this forum I have noticed that people mix several brands into their order. Is this normal for most snus users or just more prevalent on this forum?

When I smoked I would often switch brands. I just never understood people that drink one brand of beer, soda, or whatever. However I think most people in Sweden are more loyal to certain brands.

I wouldn't say that we are brand disloyal.

Rather most of us are still new to snus and always keen to try something different (I include myself in this group even though I've been using snus for more than a year now.)

I do get the feeling though that once you settle on a flavour, lös grind or portion size/type/material you like then the orders become more similar. For example my orders are made up almost exclusively of my top 5.

Just look at Sagedil, the one person who I thought would never hear say that he likes one snus above all others has gone completely mad for Thunder....

Also, IMO snus offers much more in the way of variety than cigarettes, unless you used to RYO.

The Swedes do tend to be more loyal though. My dentist only uses General

It's just a personality type. I have a friend who smokes marlboro 27s all day and drinks 12 oz. canned budweiser each night. One time I picked up his beer and got him 16oz. cans because it was a better deal. I couldn't believe the discomfort on his face.

I've always been a mix-it-up type of dude myself, and I think those who participate in internet forums would be as well.

I have my goto Snus's and usually add a tin or two to try out on each order. Any day now I will have tried every flavor and will settle down with the 3-4 flavors I like.

Yes, Cigarettes, I rarely changed. But with snus, if I overuse any of them, they start to turn on me and I don't like them any more. Happened with Nick & Johnny, my previous "Thunder" when i first started using.

I have worked hard to develop the broadest selection of "favorites" I can, and usually have a rotation of about 10 at least that are "go to" snuses for me. Even with the new Thunder, I won't overuse it. By consistantly switching up, I always like whatever snus I return to.

It's just different then cigarettes. Maybe that is just me, but I doubt it

I don't know if this holds true for other snusers, but I find that different snus are simply better suited for different situations.

For example, I like to start my day off with a nice strong portion. Later on during the day, I'll switch to regular portions when at home, and the longer-lasting white portions when going out. When drinking coffee, I'll use flavored snus; when drinking alcohol, I'll go with a low-cost brand (think V2) that I won't feel bad about double- or triple-bagging.

It isn't really about "brand disloyalty" per se - rather, it is about exploiting the wide variety found in the world of snus.

Rather than brand loyalty, I have a type loyalty.

My los is fine in texture. (Ettan, PF, RL)

I prefer original portions with "natural" flavoring, not usually straying into sweet flavorings. (GES, Grov, LS)

Of course, I carry a few specialized snus. (CQ, Got Gray)

I also don't know how I could cope without Kocksnus at this point. That is one "snus" to which I am completely loyal.

I'm rather new and haven't tried too many, but I've found if I don't switch it up between a couple different snuses then I'll probably burn out on one. Now that I've gotten a taste for Ettan I could probably stick with it quite frequently, but I know that there's at least one or two others that I'll like as much. So rather than sticking with just one and getting bored of it, I'll keep things mixed so that I always enjoy it when I go for it. Variety, mate. Keeps things more interesting. Just don't try that with women; things tend to go badly. XP

I could be happy with five brands. Even happier with only 5 manufacturers. :lol:

I think the variety in snus is a plus, we can use different flavors to fit different moods. I think the main thing about this group is that smoking kills your sense of taste and smell. Using snus to quit smokes and and noticing all the "new" flavors, subconsciously makes us want to keep those flavors coming. Or I could be over thinking it and we all are indecisive people who can't make up our minds.

Going by the posts so far I'd say the answer is yes we are mainly brand disloyal.

Brand treason is quite common with American snus users. However, I'm still in the sampling stage with the vast array of brands available. However, my favorite snus so far is Lucky Strike. My next order will consist of several different brands, since I'm still trying to figure out what suites me the best.

You said even better what I was trying to say. I easily burn out on a snus if I overdo it. I am grateful I have so many favorites now so I never over do any snus.

I think part of it too is that snus comes in many flavors that smokers aren't use to having. When you have cigarettes, you have menthol and non-menthol. There's differences within each, to be sure, but not by a lot. With snus, you have all these flavors a smoker isn't used to: Cranberry, bergamot, peppermint, lingonberry, anis, etc, etc.

There's just more out there for us to try out and the flavor differences are more subtle, yet more varying, than smokes are.
