I like the idea of a drawing/raffle. Is there any way for Northerner to look up purchases of Gellivare? I think those that have purchased it in the past that are members of Snuson should be the only ones included. The best would be a weighted drawing based on previous purchases. Say they had a drawing for LD Blue when it was discontinued, I would like an advantage over those that have not tried it. I really like the stuff and purchased a large amount of it when it was being discontinued. I have never tasted Gellivare, I don't know what I am missing.... could be good or just ok. Those people that have been buying it must have a good opinion of it and will more than likely cherish the remaining Gellivare. LET THEM CHERISH IT. This will undoubtedly make them even more loyal to Northener because of Northener's generosity. I think that it is best way. If we would like to set up a PAYPAL account to help the owners then that can be a completely separate thing.
I agree. I didn't think about that part of it. :? The loyal followers of Gellivare SHOULD have the chance to get the last of thier beloved favorite. Even though I didn't get the chance, I still would like to see, and support, some kind of gift to get them. Like I said in a prior post, It just sucks to see any family business go down because of a govenrment.
I've never had it, so I don't want it... What if it's the most delicious thing I've ever tasted? Then I'll have to live the fact that I'll never be able to have it again...
Thank you very much for all the posts you have made in this tread.
Today we finally made a randomly drawing of the two last 2kg (4lbs) Snus set made by Gellivare Snus factory and the two winners are: Gellivare Snus Set went to Premium Parrots, and Lanström Snus Set went to lxskllr. If you do not like these loose snus you are free to choose any other person you prefer to receive the gift.
But we also would like to send a gift to all persons who participated in this discussion. I will send you a message to ask you for your favorite 5 Snus which I will mail to you + 1 can of old Gellivare Snus (this can is too old to use) but which you can keep as a memory of the last handcrafted Snus that was made in Sweden.
I also ordered flowers to the founder of Gellivare Snus factory - Doris Landström and left a note telling "From all the Gellivare snus fans on snuson.com and Northerner, we all hope to see your Snus again".
Doh, see what I miss for not being around this week?
Stupid Warhammer Release.
I did never get to try the Gellivare as I am a relativly new snuser, but its always sad to see a small hardworking buisness go under. Especially when its the Government at fault.
Northerner,
Thanks for handeling this situation in the way you did (it really was the most fair way) and the flowers were a classy touch It really is too bad about Gellivere and lanstroms though.
-Kind regards
That was a very nice gesture and I know it will be appreciated by Gellivare. I hope that one day they will start producing snus again.
Are we as forum members still going to have a whip around to send some funds to Gellivare? How does $5 each sound? Maybe Ice or Northerner can set up a PayPal account for us to contribute to?
I am very dissapointed to hear this because my next order was going to be from northerner, which would have been my first with them. And Gellivare/Landstroms was going to be a for sure on that order.
Thank you very much Frank. This was a very generous offer you bestowed on us, and thank you for thinking of Doris also.
I'm going to give some thought to a gift to send. I think that would be better than money, because the government won't be able to get it, and I'm not exactly wealthy to say the least. I don't think I can contribute much to take the sting out of a $130,000 bill :^/
I would suggest the same to anyone interested in contributing to the cause. I want to get something distinctly American. That way it might be special in some way, and let them know that their product was appreciated from this part of the world.

I agree with every word from lxskllr and will join others in contributing to Roger and Doris in an "American" way.
Frank, Thank you so much for the generous contribution to my habit. I have a plan in the works for this snus. I'm not sure I can implement it tho. This will be interesting.
lskllr we might want to trade of a portion of this windfall for none other than for the sake of variety. I'm checking customs to make sure we don't get taxed to death by our government. I will let you know my plans for this snus when I figure it out. Lets first get it here without customs interferring.
HAPPY DAYS OVER HERE. I'm so excited.......I finally won something. Yaaaaaaaaaa
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

How about a 2 can beer helmet plastered with fast food, nascar and reality tv show logos. It would also have to have a flag with sparklers and yellow ribbons sticking out of the top. Rig it up so that it plays "It's a small world afterall" when you take a pull off the beer tubes.
But serriously, perhaps a verry nice bottle of a unequly American spirit (there are some very high quality and very American Whiskeys out there) or wine would be more appreciated. I know we have many experts in this catagory on the site (like yourself).
A big thanks from a big fan. It isn't the free snus that makes the difference, it is your quality of service and care that makes all the difference in the world.
Damn, I tuned in to this too late to qualify for 5 tins of my faves. Anyway, a civilized discussion and a fascinating thread to read. Sympathies to Roger & Doris.

ROFL!! :^D
That would certainly be memorable. Alcohol could be a problem with shipping, I'd have to read up on the appropriate laws.
I want to wait on receipt of the snus before I decide what to do with it. I'm not 100% sure what it is we'll be getting. I've seen the flavors on Gellivare's website, but I'm wondering what the base tobacco tastes like. When you bought these from The Northerner, they were already flavored as near as I can tell. It was a hyper natural tobacco taste if you know what I mean. It tasted more or less like pure tobacco, but fortified. I'm wondering if this will be like that, or if I'll have to get that flavor by mixing oils.
It is sad to enounce that our Snus supplier Gellivare Snus will soon file for bankcrupcy. They lost a case in court last friday against the Swedish tax...
Just found a fresh unopened can of Gellivare tucked away at the back of the fridge! It's not the old one Frank sent me with the 5 free cans - it's as...
