That leads me to ask why non alcoholic beer and spirits aren't flying off the store shelves?

Nobodies saying it can't be both. Maybe you find it fun and a lifestyle is because the parts of your brain that tell you that are effected nicely by it. Truth is none of Us really exactly know; what I believe the majority of us do realize is that it's better than what we use to do to get the nicotine. I totally understand where deebecools was coming from, He apparently wants to quit and sometimes people need to (over) vilify the things they don't want to do anymore. It's not a very proven way of quitting tho. It's what the kick the can guys and aa'rs do. Not sure about the KC'rs but I know AA works for a very tiny amount of people. The recidivism rate is abhorrent and there are more people in AA who commit suicide than people who continue to drink. The chances of spontaneous abstinence are much greater and can also be contributed to some of the meager success the AA cult takes ownership of. I know where not talking alcohol and drugs but it's a small stretch to make the comparison, especially since Nicotine is always compared to heroin when it comes to addictiveness and probably the second worst and probably more dangerous withdrawal syndrome is from alcohol. Anyway whatever get's you thru the night is the most important thing. Never meant for extremely frosted to go off on me for pointing out something nor did I want it to become a bitch thread. I would just hate to see someone who is in the same situation I was in 6 yrs ago happen to get some erroneous info on a quick google search.....Also I believe most of us see the benefits in harm reduction so I will also post a link for the Hams network which is mainly based in Alcohol but may be of some value here as well.....

I wouldn't use it if it didn't do me immense good. It is scientifically proven to help with concentration, memory and stress, and with pretty much every neurological disorder going, and helps to prevent degenerative neurological disease, as bigblue pointed out. You're just spouting the usual clichéd stigma that tobacco is entrenched in.

Furthermore, don't think nicotine is the only thing you're addicted to. Try quitting sugar, or grains.

That aside, good luck. We're all on different paths.
Thanks for posting this. That is a great link. I bookmarked it for future reference.

If you are really trying to quit; all the power to you. As Rick mentioned above, if you aren't already addicted it would just be best not to start.

However; I don't see myself ever quitting. I enjoy snus way to much to quit; when you couple that with the low(er) health risks, low(ish) cost, and the ease of use (not having to deal with smoking bans), I just don't see myself quitting. I'm not saying this to be a douche; I really do wish you all the luck in the world if you're trying to quit.

Huh? Looks like your the one whose doing whatever it is you accused me of. I just pointed out that he contradicted himself and as Badaxe said there is proof that it helps at least some people with concentration and anxiety not to mention memory and has been shown to help Parkinsons patient's as well as alzheimers.. To just say it's all a lie with no proof to back it up is just a lie.

If I'm already in an on going stressful situation it doesn't help me relax, in fact I'd say it ramps it up for me.
After a stressful event it does help me relax.
    Nicotine can go both ways.

While I will say congratz on quitting. Its an accomplishment to be proud of. But, Nicotine helping with stress, and with concentration is in no way a lie. It does in fact help with both. While you can cope with stress and concentrate as a nicotine free person, it does in fact help with both, for those that intake nicotine. Whether mental or physical, it still does in fact help.

At the same time, I tend to relapse when I'm single. When I don't have to worry about having a nice mouth to kiss, it's easy for my eyes to spot the dip. Currently, I'm not single but I relapsed during a particularly stressful period at work when I was working 12-14 hour days and so forth. I've been using Skoal pouches maybe 2-5 times a day for the past few weeks.

I intend to quit again. You can too. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say. I think snus is a godsend though, and I encourage anyone to ****ing stop. The withdrawal is not that bad.
    Contradiction?

Snus is a good stepping stone from the cigarette. I now know that I will never smoke a cigarette again and so if I ever gave up snus, that would be it for good. It's an excellent extricator from the smokes. The addiction to snus is a little bit of a pain but the enjoyment is outweighing that at the moment.
I've given up cigarettes 6 years in March and I haven't missed them once since snussing.

    Good luck to you.
