    Iso snus without bergamot flavor

It seems they add it with almost all snus. From trying to avoid this flavor, I've settled on the following rotation:

    general mint
    ettan (white portion, i think)
    thunder extra strong frosted

I'd like one more thats a stark but without the bergamot or mint flavor, just a regular strong snus that tastes like ettan, and nothing else. Any suggestions?

Earl Grey Tea is reputed to be the most popular tea in the Western world.
Probably a key reason why bergamot is so widely used:

Earl Grey tea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Earl Grey tea is a tea blend with a distinctive flavour and aroma derived
from the addition of oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange,
    a fragrant citrus fruit.

Traditionally the term "Earl Grey" was applied only to black tea; however,
today the term is used for other teas that contain oil of bergamot, or a flavour."

Earl grey tea - the most popular tea in the Western world
"Earl Grey tea is not always a high quality tea. As the taste of bergamot is
very strong, sometimes it can disguise a poor quality
    of black tea."

Might the same be said of snus??

I don't taste it in Grov OP/WP but there is some in Grov Black. I could be just too conditioned to Grov though.

Nick & Johnny's would be another good one. I think the smokiness and pepper overpowers everything else. IMO, I think both of these are better than Ettan but only by a little bit. You can also get some SnusX and flavor it with whatever you want...It will come to you plain. That might be the best bet if you like the V2 tobacco.

                Some suggestions I'd say:

Roda Lacket (taste of dried fruit/herbs)
Phantom Blue (White Portion) - taste of juniper/dried herbs
Göteborgs Rapé No2 - taste of lingonberry
Grov - taste of rich tobacco
Catch Licorice - if you like licorice, it's tasty.
Gotland's Green - a very interesting herbal tasting snus.
Catch Eucalyptus - this one's pretty good too.

I'll be honest with you - I was the same way when I started using snus in May of 2009. I couldn't stand bergamot. I would advocate every new user to avoid it, UNTIL I started liking it. Then it was like night and day for me. Then around September of 2009, my tastes began to change (as they do when you're new to snus), and now I use mostly bergamot flavored snuses, and less flavored snus. I use a flavored maybe a few times a day, but that's about it. I would encourage you to keep an open mind. Don't completely rule it out. The longer you use snus the more your palate will develop, and in time - snuses you once loved you won't, and snuses you thought you wouldn't like, well, you may end up using them a lot more.

That being said, on the subject of bergamot, I wrote this last year on Snubie, thought I'd share it.

"Now, bergamot in snus, what's the deal? Well, bergamot IS snus, to state it quite simply. Bergamot is the standard/classic taste in all snus products. A snus without bergamot is like a coke without caffeine, it's just not the standard. Bergamot is added to snus for many reasons. One of which is to enhance the very rich taste of the tobacco. The oil of the bergamot is what is used in snus. In many snus products, the bergamot is mixing with the salt in flavor while the tobacco flavor is brought to the front, with the bergamot providing hints of it's natural flavor. So in essence, it would lead you to believe the stronger the bergamot, the more pure the tobacco flavor, and the more the flavors of all 3 will mix in the snus itself, as well as any other more flavors more subdued in the snus - the bergamot would enhance these. As Swedish Match told me, it "marries" well with the tobacco. According to BuySnus.com, "[Bergamot is] the most demanded flavor on the market. About half of all snus that is sold of this flavor."

I decided to check out some of the retailers/producers and asked around. Thanks to Markus at Swedish Match for sending me back some information. He said:

"1. Bergamot is a classic snus aroma and has been used for a very long time, we are talking hundreds of years, just like classic flavors of tea (Earl Gray etc.). The equitable citrus character marries well with the tobaccoflavor.
                2. In some of Swedish Match products includes bergamot, only one of the most flavor components and the overall flavor profile is a complex mixture of various condiments. A large part of Swedish Match's products do not contain bergamot. For many, perhaps bergamot become a signature for the taste of snus, but surely it's because most competitor products that appear on the market have a strong seasoning of just bergamot.
                3. Swedish Match uses essential oils and other food-approved additives."

I learned alot doing this research, and I hope this shed some light on the topic for you, as well."

If you like Ettan, I will second the Nick & Johnny suggestion. I like the strong better than the black or white because I find their dry portions a tad on the bitter side.

Interesting. I don't remember tasting any bergamot at all in either 01 or 02. Not only would Thunder Original be a good choice but also of course Thunder Frosted. Also Jak's WG and Mint don't appear to have any citrus in them. Jak's Classic strong might have a little but it's way in the background---a small fraction of what General has and only barely detectable.

                        Gotland Grå
                        Probe

None of these are stark, but the Probe and Gotland are slightly stronger than average.

I wouldn't stock up on those. Like Chad said, your taste will change over time. I used to like a General mini mint every now and then but now I don't care for them much at all. I think you would be safe with Gellivare as it is yummy and does not have any bergamot that I can taste at least. You will definitely need an Ice Tool or prismaster with Gellivare but it is well worth it. Gotlands Original los is also a safe bet and has kind of a grassy natural taste to me. The Gotlands also feels soft to my gums. Either one of the snus' that I have mentioned make a great all day snus. You can get the Gotlands through the Snuson VIP club. The Gellivare you can get through Northerner but I really hope that will be a VIP selection soon! hint hint.

bergamot is a sickly smell, my hatred for it will never change. (but i can envision the corporate table at swedish match as they discuss new flavors, and some fool recommends bergamot, proceeded by rowdy unanimous agreement.) it is already in every single one of their snus, across all their flavors. ugh!

in any case, the reason i upped this thread today is that i just tried the new skoal snus, both mint and smooth mint. you know what? not a bergamot in sight! and they both taste great! im not saying the other qualities of good snus is present in skoal as they are in swedish match, and i probably wont continue buying the skoal as my mouth is not the size of a gorilla's, but snus without bergamot taste fantastic, to some people. thats the truth. why this idea isnt conceived by anyone in sweden is beyond me.

I reckon somebodys said this, but starks, no bergamot, Nick & Johnny orig or white.. ettan an grov are good. Odens Es is pretty wicked too but may be too much for a new snuser... anywho good luck.

skruf has a little begamot too but less then general, plus more rose oil. thats my favorite!
