Referring to the topic, I'm a Hebrew National kind of guy. Nothing is better than a thick, 100% beef weiner!!!

Hebrew National's the shit. They're my favorite mass produced weinies. I've had some better from small shops though.

My local meat market has really good bratwurst. Nothing is better than a few bratwursts of the grill and a cold beer.

Snusjus, only one thing that makes it even better.

          Applicable to brats, not franks.

          Preparations in the house:
-Get one or two bottles of good German weiss beer(it has to be weiss).

-Marinate couple of brats in the beer for couple of hours or even
          overnight.

-Put everything (brat and beer) on the oven, high heat for 4 minutes
          max.

-Remove the brats from the beer.

On the grill (after charcoals are nice and ready):

-Put the beer in a suitable container for grilling. The objective
here is for the heat to reduce the beer (volume) by about 15%. That will
happen fast when it starts boiling

-Cut a small onion in small pieces and put on the grill.

-Put the onions in the beer once they are golden brown.

-Start cooking the brats on the grill (not in the beer) as usual.

-Put the lid on for couple of minutes for the smell to penetrate the beer
          soup.

-When the brats are done, remove and put in the beer soup.

-Give it couple of more minutes on the grill.

          -Bon Appetit

lxskllr, I am addicted to that brat recipe and also the ritual that is involved in preparing it, drinking beer with buddies before, during and after the cooking process. I love brats as pretty much grew up eating Polish brats few times a week. Enjoy it man.

I'm Irish, Italian, Polish & German. Sausage of all varieties have been a staple of my diet for as long as I can remember. Brats, Hot sausage, kielbasa... you name it.

No Irish or Italian but I have Polish, German and Romanian relatives. I was talking with lxsklr before about food and it made me real hungry. Since two of the buddies are in Dubai now and one is chasing ladies in New Jersey, I decided to cook me some food. This is what I did:

-Turkish cutlet (meat, potato, onion, turmeric and saffron)
                  - Yogurt with mint, shallots, cucumber and hot red peppers (goes well
                  with vodka)
                  - Baked potatoes, cut and fried.
                  - Hot sporty little peppers
                  - Pita bread
                  - Glass of Stoli
                  - A pre-dinner skruf los

I think the cutlet is Turkish, but some call it Persian or Lebanese
It was really nice for a change.

Christ man! I can barely pour a bowl of cereal, let alone cook something like that!

                    Sounds damn good though.

I'll be eating Ramen Noodles for the next 2 weeks. Got paid, paid my bills, was doing OK. Get up this morning to extremely sick dogs... $300 in vet bills later I have about $40 to last me 2 weeks.

Oh well, my babies are ok. That is all that matters!

                            Xobe and the gang,
We managed to get two cheap one-way tickets for tomorrow morning to Amsterdam and a standby flight to Dubai from Schiphol. I had a great time hanging around the forum and chat with you guys and at the same time learned a lot. You guys are a riot and real fun. I've never been to Dubai and have no idea how things are going to work out, will do my best to get connected to the internet when I get there.

                            Best wishes
                            Vic

Hey Captn, while in Dubai visit the Palm Island. My new house is at the far tip of the third branch on the left. Bring more women and beer.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
