I felt awesome on a strict ketosis diet but then it stopped being as effective. Not everyone flourishes on a ketosis diet but I think it is still beneficial to do a 30 day cycle for a cleanse and continue as long as you are benefiting. The MCT oil is converted by your liver into ketone, so I can get the benefits of ketones without avoiding carbs entirely and having to stay in ketosis.

Represent!! Couldn't have phrased it better myself. For me, four cups of bulletproof coffee, 4 tbsp. butter, and a couple glugs of MCT oil, have me set up. I am still flying - it is currently almost 2 pm. I haven't eaten anything today, aside from my supplements I had after the coffee. Not at all hungry, not at all tired.
To echo what piks101 said below, DO NOT DO THIS if you are eating carbs/sugar in the morning. On this diet, you are almost constantly in ketosis - that means your body burns fats first. If your stomach runs out of fuel, you are in ketosis, so your body starts to burn fat from your body. = not hungry.
Sugar, or carbs which convert into sugar, will wreck this effect. Carbs are OK later in the day, like some white rice, but you want to stay the hell away from sugar.

clarified butter also known ghee i think. It's very popular in Indian cuisine . I think it is part of this avoiding carbohydrate's concept . I can't say how replacing carbohydrates with high cholesterol foods is that great though

The practice is polarizing—it sounds awesome to some, disgusting to others—but really, it’s not about how the mixture tastes. “Clarified butter is a great source of energy, satiates you: I get the draw,” coffee writer Oliver Strand told us on Twitter. “But it’s more about diet than flavor.”

Where It Comes From: Putting butter in morning tea has long been a “thing” in Tibet. “The heart and soul of Tibet” is butter tea, chef Vikas Khanna told us. (Khanna’s cookbook, Return to the Rivers: Recipes and Memories of the Himalayan River Valleys, was nominated for a James Beard Award this year.)
It’s almost exactly what it sounds like: tea, brewed normally, and then served with a float of yak butter and Himalayan salt. “It is hard to drink initially—it’s so strong!—but it’s the best thing Tibet taught me.”
It was Dave Asprey, though, who most recently imported the idea to States, switching the tea to coffee, adding some other ingredients, and branding it Bulletproof Coffee. Then came the attention from Paleo diet experts and followers of the Traditional Foods movement.
