I am asking myself this same question, there must be more important news than the ramblings of an old RedNeck.

Dear ‘Duck Dynasty’ Fans: You Do Know It’s All Fake, Right?
    Variety ^ |

Amid the turmoil caused by the suspension of “Duck Dynasty’s” Phil Robertson in relation to an interview he gave with GQ, an outpouring of support has emerged from those defending the bearded A&E star.
Which only prompts one to wonder whether these people really know whom exactly it is they’re defending.
However real and natural it might appear, “Duck Dynasty” is a sitcom. Not all the dialogue is written, but as even the Robertsons freely admitted on the “Today” show, “They come up with ideas and we just get to be ourselves in the situation.”
So while Robertson can be taken at his word that he’s a man of faith, the character that people know from TV is just that: A character.
Other websites, some with way too much time on their hands, have meticulously detailed the staging that goes into the show. But suffice it to say that the Robertsons have thrived in part because they and their producers have been adept at making themselves seem authentic. As one reality TV producer suggested when discussing the show, even if the situations are all phony, you couldn’t create those guys.
Still, the full-throated defense on behalf of the Robertsons primarily reflects two things: The very effective tactic of making Christians feel like they are disrespected and persecuted by the mainstream media; and most germane to this discussion, the sorry lack of media literacy in the U.S., where people might insist they’re in on the gag, but if they’re seeing something on TV, they tend to assume it’s true.
At this point, the “Duck Dynasty” story has taken on a life of its own, propelled by the political aspects of the standoff – pitting anti-gay-rights conservatives against “liberal Hollywood” – and the good (or bad) fortune of happening right before Christmas, when everyone’s starved for something to talk and write about.
Yet while many of those who watch “Duck Dynasty” no doubt feel like they know the Robertsons, these characters are shaped – through editing and writing – in virtually the same way “The Big Bang Theory” or “Modern Family” is. So the guy you see, as colorful as he is, isn’t necessarily the real-life version.
And guess what? There’s no Tooth Fairy, either.

Charlie Sheen unloads on 'Duck Dynasty' star’s comments on homosexuality
The New York Daily News ^

The “Duck Dynasty” controversy just got a major shot in the arm.
Actor Charlie Sheen exploded on Phil Robertson for the reality TV star's totally non-winning comments on homosexuality.
In a long rambling message on Twitpic Saturday, Sheen calls the "Duck Dynasty" star "Mallard brained" and a "shower dodger" and tells him his comments were "abhorrently and mendaciously unforgivable.”
"The idea that you have a job outside of dirt-clod stacking is a miracle," the "Anger Management" star writes. "Shame on you. You're the only surviving brain donor I've ever known."
Robertson has received a lot of criticism for his comments in an upcoming GQ article. A&E has indefinitely suspended the 67-year-old after he equated same-sex relationships with bestiality.
"It seems like, to me, a vagina - as a man - would be more desirable than a man's anus, that's just me," Robertson said.
"I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."
Sheen decided to shine his very large and noticeable limelight on Robertson and defend his many friends that Robertson offended.
"The only thing you should ever be in charge of building is a hole in the ground the exact size of your head," he wrote. "Perhaps your beard would fit as well if you plucked out the army of scabies and bull weevils sequestered deep in its sarcophagus of dander and weasel pelts."
Sheen wasn't done - informing Robertson he needs to "make serious amends" to the people he radically offended and the only “Dynasty” he's attached to "might be the re-runs of that dated show."
Sheen, who knows a thing or two about how one’s comments can lead to his removal from a hit TV show, saved his most bizarre and pointed quips for the end of the post.
"On the eight day when I was whittling my cosmic banjo, I'm pretty sure YOU were the scattered dross I then used to light a fire and locate the nearest Andy Gump," he said.
Robertson does have his backers, as former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin stated her support of Robertson's free speech.
"Free speech is an endangered species," Palin said in a Facebook post. "Those 'intolerants' hatin' and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us."
The family is also reportedly considering leaving A&E due to Robertson's suspension.

The suspension of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson by the A&E Network after making controversial remarks in GQ magazine regarding homosexuality has been called a business decision. But now Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller is making a business decision of his own.
Miller announced on his personal Facebook page Friday night that A&E would no longer be welcomed to film or produce any of its programs or series with the help of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office or its facilities. "A&E has suspended Phil Robertson for talking about his conservative Christian beliefs," Miller wrote." None of us are without sin and I am not judging anyone. I am sure A&E made what they believe is a good business decision. Many people who disagree with A&E might choose to remain silent and there was a time when I might have done the same, but no longer. In my mind the punishment is unreasonable.
"I know it will not matter to A&E, but it will make me feel better. A&E has produced more than a half dozen programs with the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. They will not do any more with my assistance while I am sheriff. It is time for someone other than Hollywood and the news media to stand up for what is right!"

I just love all the postings I see on facebook about this garbage. Who cares? It's a guy from a reality TV show and somehow people feel such a strong connection to need to voice their opinion about this guys opinion. Put that effort into impeaching obama or something holy shit don't waste it on arguing if you're for gay marriage, against it, for it but respect people who are against it blah blah blah, who in the hell decided what these people say or do is important anyways? Because they have a TV show? So did those kids fom West Virginia until they started dropping like flys

Regardless of my beliefs and opinions, I am so sick of the PC thought police. The politically correct nonsense is such a disaster.

American needs to toughen the **** up.

People are always going to judge and speak their mind on the ways of others, but it is not that serious.

If you take a dick up your ass you are a tough bastard, that is fact. How could his words hurt more than a big slong?

    Just saying you guys.

We suspend people off of TV shows for saying they are against being gay.....but most politicians run on the grounds that Creationism should be taught in schools and that homosexuality is a sin.

I have nothing against people being gay and think its an incredibly illogical train of thought to look down on them but it's pretty sad that we go in an uproar over what someone on a REALITY TV SHOW says but do not hold politicians to the same standards. I remember one of the primaries they asked everyone is they thought evolution was a lie and most of them raised their hands....they should have been laughed off of the stage.
