Coming to New York

I'm going to be in NYC for a week with my new job towards the end of January. Looking for suggestions from New Yorkers (or people who know the city) for things to do, places to eat/drink, etc. Never been before, so any suggestions/tips welcomed.

I'll be staying on W 29th (between 6th and 7th Ave), and working on W 23rd (between 5th and 6th Ave), if that helps any.

More importantly, am I likely to find swedish snus in any shops? I like the idea of being able to buy a can over the counter.

I live in Columbus, OH, we can buy General snus over the counter in pretty much any gas station. The problem is the price. You pay ~ $4.20 a can for General Original portions before state tax, in New York, I'm afraid that price would be much, much higher with their tobacco taxes. You would probably be pushing $6.00+ a can. Even with the outrageous shipping charges, it's still cheaper online after purchasing 3 rolls in the US.

I also have never seen anywhere selling Sterk or Extra Sterk in any brand. I'm sure they do exist; however, they are few and far between. Good luck with your quest, provide updates on the trip!

Ellis Island is really worth seeing. I was surprised by it. Oh, and don't drink the water.

On another note, I can buy general at a local shop but it costs almost $8 a can, so I only do it when I have no other option.

Make sure to get a dirty water hot dog off a cart. Whatever you are into, you will ne able to find there pretty easily. Google what you want and, if you are working with locals ask them. I haven't lived up there in about six years and it has changed immensely since I left.
