This venue is offering 50% off their one year membership plans. I don't know how many members are in the area that could take advantage of it, but I'll be getting myself a School of Fish membership before the deal expires tomorrow. The one big perk for me is that you get into a number of shows for free if you're a member. Between today and the end of December there's 14 shows posted that you'd be able to get in for free. Depending on what shows you show up for, if it's open to non-members you can save yourself $10-$20 per ticket. And according to the email I got today about this, members get free drinks at any of the events held in The Gallery section of the venue. Right now there's nothing on the line up that really catches my eye, but in the past they've had some pretty great shows, ranging from classical and jazz to black metal. There's a full list of perks at the link, and LPR has to be one of my favourite venues in NYC. The biggest downside to them is that drinks are real expensive ($12 for a cocktail, plus tax and automatic 20% tip, so about $15 all told), which canbe a pain at shows with a posted 2 item minimum. On the the upside, Zombie hunters are absolutely delicious, and They're about equivalent to two cocktails anywhere else in terms of strength. If there's anyone else who's in the area and might grab one, let me know. Could be fun to meet up with a fellow snuser for a night of music and drinks.
