Was actually just reading that earlier. Also, I didn't know you lived down here back in the day, WickedKitchen. If you ever come back this way, let me know if you want to meet up some time, not all that far away from Greenwood Lake. Of course I'm not actually living in Newburgh, but I just throw that on here as occasionally someone knows where Newburgh is, but nobody ever knows the location of all the little crap towns around it.

I think lead was probably the least of the worries for anyone in there. Mold was likely a greater hazard.

That was the entrance to the tunnel we had to travel through to even hit the lead-laden air in that hallway. Also a fair bit of evidence of people still living in there, so I'm glad with didn't run into/frighten any of them. Was always a bit tense when we came across rooms with sleeping bags, clothes, or blankets in them.

Awesome pictures!! The grafitti pics were great but I really liked the main high-ceiling area, with the word "social club" on the back wall. I dunno..it looks like it doesn't really fit in, maybe a little more modern looking than the rest?? I'd love to trespass and tour an old abandoned bldg but I would be so paranoid about getting caught!

I think that was an area for staff who had to live on premises to relax. It had a four or five lane bowling alley, basketball courts and a swimming pool in it. It was certainly an odd building there, though.

The pic's look like PP's place did after he had the wise idea a few years back to invite people from this forum over to his house.

          Remember that event PP?

Sunland Asylum aka "Sunnyland" in Tallahassee. Me and a buddy got up the nerve to go in one night, got 30 feet down a dark hallway and into a room. We looked at each other and immediately turned right the %&$% around. I try not to think about that right before bed...

Picture on the left sure makes it look like a cheery place. Ever do any further exploring of it? Looks like it could be very interesting.

Very cool pictures. Reminds me of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky. Not sanatarium (mental). Some very interesting documentaries on Waverly Hills. The best is "Spooked". Supposedly one of the most haunted places in America considering 63,000 tuberculosis patients died there. I will say, there is some very puzzling incidents caught on film and audio.

Check out abandonedplaces.com. That site has some amazing photos from a man with bigger balls than me.

Alas, it was leveled a few years ago and an apartment complex put in it's place. It really sucks because me and a friend had planned to make a low budget horror film named 'Sunnyland'. Oh well, I guess we can make a film about an apartment complex haunted by the evil spirits of the insane? Hey, Sunnyland could be the name of the complex....Mmmmm

Cool stuff. There's a deactivated naval base(formerly a boys school) over here I've always wanted to go in, but I think it's still patrolled, and I'm not sure how to get in inconspicuously. The buildings look cool from a distance though...

I love urban decay. I want to go to Detroit before the cool stuff disappears, and the rest gets gentrified.

Yep. I realized there was a dash in there after I posted. Thanks for the correction.
This guy does photography in Europe. He's gone places I wouldn't want to drive past, like some spooky hospital or something in Russia. I'm glad there are urban adventurers who do this so I don't have to.
This subject fascinates the hell out of me.

Perhaps we ought to get some sort of SnusOn Urban Exploration team together, provide some interesting photos for our fellow snusers. Any interest in such a thing? I'd be down for making a trip somewhere once every two or three weeks to check it out. Plenty of locations around here. Would also be interesting to see all the stuff from across the US, and see what's different about these sorts of places in the various geographic regions.

I'm down for it! If weather is ok tomorrow, I'll go and check that old soviet army base out, don't know where to upload pics tho..
