I our case yes, it was how we were raised. I'm not looking down my nose at anyone who think differently. Just saying it works for us.

If one of you ends up in the hospital, you will not be treated as a relative. Possibly not allowed in, and the doctors will defer to the actual relatives for decisions. Your vote might not count.

My absolute first thoughts are it is safer to lease American but buy Foreign only.
It however does come down to the quality of the person even if she is American as Cobrageezer's life example.

I have been married coming on six years. My wife is great with our kid and takes care of almost everything from diapers to doctor appointments. Dinner is on the table everynight and we barely have any serious blowouts. SHe buys everything with a coupon or super cheap. Cleaning is a whole another story or (my story), but she does work full time for our health benefits.

For me it was about finding somebody who took care of things like grandma and my mother did. I never would of made a life committment to one person who I did not see could at least take care of the basics in a loving, nurturing, and old school kinda way.

So you are saying if you hadn't signed that marriage certificate you would not care about her? or her you?

This is true. However unless you are yourself a Dr what real difference does it matter other than your own desires. Not to be cold but if your partner has specific desires in such cases they should probably make a living will.
