Help us out here....I can't get my mouth to pronounce 中国儒学联盟 or 余樟法. Can you put a name to your script that we can read and pronounce please. No offense mates. But I just can't refer to you as "lil rectangle with a line thru it-square box with some lines in it -several verticle and horizontal lines on four legs- a 7 with a line thru it with hair on top-"and I just can't even describe the next two letters [?] in the first name. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate the beautifull script but.........


anything will do for us feeble minded. Maybe Bob or Moe......even the name Chad will help us out.

中国儒学联盟= Zhōngguó rúxué liánméng = chinese cofucianism alliance or something..
余樟法 = Yú zhāng Fǎ = Name (i think)

鼻煙, bi yan which translates into nose tobacco and snuff.. i think thats the closest we can come to snus :P
煙草, yan cao, think they say this for tobacco in forms of powder or like pipe tobacco. My friends say yan cao for my snus.

Haha just came to think of that many of my taiwanese friends have the thinking, "why shall we learn english.. why cant the rest of the world learn chinese"

By me jokeingly posting "que" I was equating the previous comment to something most americans are currently dealing with now. The Hispanics are trying to turn the USA into a bilingual country. its everywhere here.

Yep, but why not? You got the English from the Englishmen, the Canadians got French and English, and latin America got Spanish and Portugese. But as you know, it has been Spanish settlements in the US as well. In California for excample. Where does the names "San Diego", "Los Angeles", "San Francisco" and "San Jose" come from? Spanish. By reading on Wikipedia, I see that the US hasn't an official language on a federal level. Well if you don't, you can't do anything but accepting the Spanish. Canada's doing well with their two languages, and so are many European countries. Norway's got two languages, the minority language Samish and Norwegian with its two written languages, Bokmål (90%) and Nynorsk (10%). However, all samish are fluent in Norwegian, so communication is no problem. It's harder in Austria, Belgium and Switzerland which are small countries with many languages.

What bothers Americans is Spanish is new here. Regardless of the place names, Spanish was localized, and in control. When you "grow up" with 2 languages, it's easier to deal with. Canada's just about been dual language since they were Canada.For the Norwegian example, it would be more like hearing Pakistani options on the automated phone system, and seeing it on food labels. It's some new usurper changing your country under your feet.

Right or wrong, that's the way it is. Personally, I don't know... The Mexicans have at least brought good food. Americans? I'm not sure. In any case, I'll be dead before it really matters, so I don't care :^D

Funny. Years ago I was a waiter and one night I had 3 tables next to each other, one was German, one was Japanese, and one was Mexican. Only the Japanese spoke English but turns out the Japanese and Germans both spoke Spanish so they all spoke to the Japanese guy who translated to English for me lol

From what I gather, places other than the US, well, I guess south of the border too, do not really teach multilanguages. The North Koreans are more fluent in English than the Mexicans. I do wish the US would teach more languages starting right at the start of school. Spanish would be the one to learn most, I think, in the US, could depend where one lives too, other than Viets and Somalians, and some Indian people, mainly I see Mexicans, and they "no speak English".

In the states you have a lot of "vatos locos". And in Europe we are facing a lot of imigration from south american countries also. Nothing compared to the states of course.

First it was the south (with the exception of brazil, that was our colony and where they speak portuguese) and now the north america.

I'm not being racist, I just watch a lot of movies.
