The only tobacco shops around me are places like discount tobacco, smokes for less, etc. One of them advertises pipes, so I guess I'll stop in and see if they have some cobs. If I decide to keep it up, I can just order like I do snus, or make the 90 minute drive to St. Louis.
Any pipe smokers?

Do you inhale pipe tobacco?
You don't need to inhale to get the nicotine. And I am also told that some pipe tobaccos will knock you on your a**.
1)Yes, do not inhale pipe smoke. It's usually unfiltered, unless you intentionally use a filter in the pipe(has benefits and drawbacks). And of course, smoke inhalation causes big trouble.
2)Concerning nicotine, this is quite true. Especially the heavier English blends will pack a punch, more so than aromatics, and particularly Perique is a very strong tobacco.

Might I recommend beginning with one of the McClelland crossover blends rather than the gunky crap they sell in the jars at pipe shops. Buy a tin of Virginia Woods, or one of the Frog Morton series (Frog Morton on the Town is a great place to start). These are real Tobacco blends and not the pancake syrup infused gunk most people begin with.
Think of it this way Frog Morton on the Town is like Swedish snus. The stuff in jars is like Camel Frosted snus.
You can pick up a nice pipe in a Tobacco store for relatively little money (they usually have them in a basket for $10-$15. These will work just fine (stay away from filtered pipes IMO too much hassle)When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I also have quart jars of London Mixture(THAT was actually my #1 favorite blend) and My Mixture 965 from the same period. Not full, but sealed since at least 2004.
My 'Crown Jewels' though are cans of McClelland Christmas Cheer 2000 and 2001 that are unopened. I will either smoke them or sell them as they reach 10 years. Haven't decided which yet, but I'm currently leaning toward the former.

And actually, I'd second the recommendation to steer away from the pipe-shop stuff.
And, I also highly recommend starting with a corncob. They cost 2-3 bucks, so very low cost of entry, plus they're so absorbent that it's hard to get it going too hot and roast your tongue. Much too easy to do that with briar pipes.
Man, you guys are TOTALLY being the Devil On My Shoulder right now, you realize this right?

I used to smoke a pipe every once in a while,it's very relaxing and there's ALOT of varieties.Alas, I am in the process of quitting smoking and burning tobacco of any sort is too much like smoking a cig for me.Same reason I gave up on the e-cigs.

I still use my pipes. I have a lot of tobacco stored in my basement.
I like heavy latakia blends.
Also, Perique.
Try GL Pease. He has some great blends and Frog Morton is great.
If you are a newbie, watch out for tongue bite if you puff to hard or use the flavored tobaccos.
Hey Sage. If you want to move your vaporizor, PM me.
