Thought it might help if I cleared up a couple of points raised here regarding nasal snuff and the fact that there hasn't ever been a case of nasal harm from English nasal snuff.

One case often referred to dates from 1761. Dr John Hill - John Hill wasn’t a Doctor at all. It turns out he was a poet and writer of English farce, who only pretended to be a Doctor as he was annoyed with the size of his tobacco bill and wanted to get back at his tobacconist.

The other case referred to is of a Suffolk farmer who put snuff in his ear for 42 years and eventually developed a squamous carcinoma of the external auditory meatus. Can somebody tell me why would you do this??? We all know ear, nose and throat are related, but where’s the sensory pleasure?

The other point regarding TSNA’s. The average TSNA’s in Toque snuff are 2.95 ppm (on a par with Snus) and in cigarettes they are 200 ppm. I am happy to supply the medical analysis to anyone who wants it and for those with a week off work there is a very long article on harm reduction on the Toque Blog http://www.toqueblog.com/

    The study Pangloss has found

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1...ubmed_RVDocSum

You will see this study relates to Indian snuff. There are some excellant Indian snuff companies, however other unscrupulous back street snuff makers cut their snuff with ash (highly carcinagenic), lime and anything else they can to increase profits. Some Indian snuffs are mixed with Ghee (a kind of butter) what it does nobody knows. If you buy Indian snuff buy it from a legit snuff company.

      Thanks for the clarifications Toque!

P.S. My last order included a Toque Bullet of Toffee (my first "real" attempt at snuff) and it is quite delicious

what happens with the leftover snuff in your nose, do you just blow it out later, or does it eventually all dissolve or something?

Some people pick at it, others use something like Ocean (saline nasal wash), or other ways to clean it out. For me, I just spend a bunch of time in the hot shower, and that cleans me out.

I think I'm weird. When I blow my nose I can't find a trace, maybe mine just dissolves.

For the most part, I am right there with you. Still, I do make sure to clean out whatever is there. But really, it is rarely much if any.

                AHHH!

snuffhouse.org sure is serious about becoming a member of their site...

I think I just might have to try out some snuff again, it's been years since I used it.
