My order came today. I notice the ammonia smell with the other tins I ordered, but not this one, but I assume it's because the Spruce is so overpowering on its own. I suspect my opinion of it won't change even after I let it air out. Smelling the open tin, it comes across as very overbearing and powerful, like sniffing a ground up car air freshener. BUT actually taking a hit is a bit of a surprise, because it's not so bad. I confess to not usually liking these kinds of snuffs, but I would recommend it to anyone who finds the idea of a Spruce snuff intriguing to give it a try. I think after it mellows a bit it'll be a nice snuff to have around to give yourself a jolt of something different. It's too early yet to have any opinion of the others, but they do seem to have potential.

    Kaplan,
I hope you enjoy them. The special snuff at the reduced prices are only available to Account holders or subscribers. Not on general release.

From the way you were talking I would have guessed Spruce was not yet available but I just placed an order and it was available. So I threw in a tin, but I'm not expecting much. Now the Bubblegum flavor might have potential. I ordered a few other things I've never tried before, including the Crazy George, Wild Berry, Black Cherry, and Silver Dollar Scotch.

    Thanks guys,

What I meant was when I was in Sweden I was trying to track down any flavours close to spruce. I thought if anyone would have a flavour close to it the Swedes would. Snusdog is right in that the flavour is not as good as the scent.

Needless to say I came home with more snus than should have been allowed on a plane. When it becomes legal in the EU or when the EU disintegrates we will be ready, if not before

Lingonberry is like a cranberry, I think it hides the juniper in GR2 but it tastes nice. Göteborgs Rapé on its own would be better suited IMO.

    Roderick,

    Good to see ya mate!

I too am a bit confused by the OP. You went to Sweden but forgot to look for spruce snus and came home and made spruce snuff........is that correct?

As far as I know there has never been a spruce snus........It seems that pine smells better than it tastes.........which may explain why to my knowledge we have never seen a pine/spruce snus.

That said I think an herbal rosemary and Eucalyptus snus would have a lot of potential and could be sold as an "Alpine" snus.........the rosemary would give a palatable pine like essence, the Eucalyptus a coolness, and the herbal a dark forestry sort of backing

As far as snuff goes the only three I know of are
    1) Molens A/P
    2) Bernard Fichtennadel (the one skell was referencing above)
    3) Old Mill Alpine (chef Daniel)

I have both the AP and Old Mill versions and ironically I have the Bernard one on order. If you need another test nose for the Toque variation I would love to volunteer.

Anyway hope this helps a bit

    Dog
