    I finally tasted it!

One of my first orders of snus back over a year ago, included 3 tins of R.L. based on the recommendation of a friend. The first tin just tasted like salt. So the other two tins sat vacuum sealed in the freezer. I tried a 2nd tin about 4 months into snusing and just found it bland. Not one to give up, I ordered a tin of R. L. Loose just to see. Like many others have reported it is very doughy tasting. So I gave up on it. Now over a year later, I come across that last tin of R.L. Portions and thought what the heck. Popped one in and was hit with a very pleasant Bing Cherry flavor. Wow. Now I see where the reports of fruit flavor come from. I guess it just took this long for my tastebuds to recover from 15 years of smoking. Either that or this stuff ages very nicely

My tastebuds finally woke up as well. I've been enjoying prima fint nightly and have a can or RL waiting on deck.

I think that when people regularly smoke tobacco or use American style snuff, their taste and smell senses are seriously altered. After about a year after quitting smoking everything started to smell and taste more intensely, and my perception of different tastes and smells changed, including which particular snus i liked better.
Suffice to say, two years after quitting smoking i again am able to do what i did as a kid: find the big bucks in the woods by following their smell. I got two eight pointers the last fall. Humid and rainy weather helps a lot. But man, the fragrances that some people wear just kill me.

I still have a few cans left. I’ll save em for when my taste buds start working again D:

Also, though, RL portions taste quite different from the loose - the portions do indeed have a hint of cherry flavour to them which I've never really found in the loose. I'll have to get another tin of RL lös, though, and give it another go - it's been a while - but I recall a few people noting the same thing.

I always thought RL portion tasted of green apples... definitely different from the loose.

This is not the original Skruf Stark Los, but it is pretty darn good.

This snus has a good grind and is not “pasty” like a Prima Fint....

It starts in the soil. Before someone even puts a seed in it, soil samples are taken to a laboratory in Sweden for analysis. Swedish Match experiments with cultivation in different countries to achieve the best possible raw tobacco. If declared a good soil for tobacco, seeds are planted and every step in the development and the cultivation of the plant is carefully ...
