How can I deal with Gotlands Lös?

I've been getting on great with snus since quitting smoking back in December - it's really working. I've experimented loads with different brands and found the flavours and types that I like and have settled on a few brands mixed between regular portion and lös varieties.

Gotlandssnus yellow lös has to be my absolute favourite and the portions are great too. However - I just can't bake it up to make a good long-lasting pris  Does anyone have any tips? I've used a prismaster, my icetool doesn't work and handbaking which I've got down to a fine art with other brands looks like it's working until I get to finishing off the pris and then the ends just fall apart ... again.

Help - I just don't understand why if I make skruf stark lös just bake itself when it's the same courseness then I can't get the Gotlands to behave.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

PS - I still have 5 tins of Diplomat portion that I am willing to send to someone who needs it for free.

The Icetool handles it fine for me, maybe try to pack it a bit tighter.

I second the IceTool. Handbaking that stuff leaves a stinky sloppy mess in my hand :^D. With the IceTool it doesn't seem to stay in 1 chunk like many snus' do. It'll break up a bit, but I find it's still quite manageable. I just coral the bits towards the center with my tongue, and nibble on the ones that fall.

Gotland Yellow may be my favorite snus. It's a toss up between that and Landströms, and my decision is based largely on mood at any particular moment.

i hand bake everything now, i used to exclusively use the prismaster.
and the icetool is just for the obsessed/have money to burn, given its price. no offense to anyone around here who has it...i have better places to spend 40 bucks than on a snus former.

but if you're having a bitch of a time hand baking, add a little bit of saliva. sounds nasty but it works so damn well. just a little bit in the middle and work it into the snus and voila...it will act like dough. you can add a drop of clean water as well, but the water doesn't really do much as it's consistency is just too thin to provide any stickyness. i always thoroughly wash my hands and have a neutral taste in my mouth before i start los. and if you're in that habit you'll most likely be able to rinse your hands after to get rid of the residue.
and for me, i use los for 3-5 hours at a time, so it's not a big deal to do it just once or twice a day.

i don't care what tool you use, if the snus doesn't have enough tack on the particles, it will fall apart regardless.

I'm glad that I bought the Icetool if only because it makes the consumption of Gotlands loose incredibly easy. I tried baking it by hand a few times, but it just didn't work out. But with the Icetool, I get a pris that stays together for quite a long time.

So yeah, I'd definitely recommend the Icetool for this particular brand.

(Or at least a snipped syringe or Prismaster.)

              Hi guys,

Thanks for all the tips - the Gotlands is definitely worth sticking with for the taste. I think I'll just continue with slightly crumbly hand baked prillas. I'm a bit disappointed with the icetool, it compacts the snus really well - but makes such a fat cylinder which doesn't really work with my lip like the prismaster does (tends to make my whole face ache with the effort of keeping it in there!)

I really have settled down on a few brands now which I kind of hoped might happen. Gotlands yellow in both portion and lös, Nick & Johnny portions, Skruf stark lös seem to have become my mainstay - with General Onyx, LD black (thanks for the tip) and the odd other portion when I fancy it.

As for the diplomat - they have now gone to a good home!

              All the best

i've had it man, i know it's a pain regardless of what a person uses, but saliva makes the process much easier, even if it is still crumbly.

screw it, use saliva and an icetool...whatever works.

It's the saliva part I was having trouble imagining. Mine has been so wet it makes squishy noises when I try to hand bake it, and leaves a significant puddle in my hand when I'm finished. I would think that adding extra moisture would make it worse.

ohhh ok. yeah it is a bit moist but i haven't really noticed that to be much more than other snus. the saliva just has a thickness to it to keep the particles together. whatever is in the snus isn't working of course..sometimes the saliva makes it muddy but if you work it in good enough some of it will dry up in the process, and it's just easier. the only trouble is getting over using saliva...i know i had sort of a qualm but then i was like, well, it came out of my mouth so it can go back in...that logic of course doesn't apply to other things that come out of the mouth...maybe that connection is what makes it nasty to some...but i've found it to be rather useful and not an actual problem..

in fact, i think i get more of a nicotine hit. i may be wrong but it seems more pronounced.
