25 years of 2½pk Marlboro reds a day UNTIL the moment I found General snus locally.
Last cigarette was the 16th of this month.
I use snus as my way to keep my nic. Level stable ,I use nasal snuff to give me the quick nic. Effect to keep any craving at bay.
Mind ya,that my wife smokes 1½pk a day around me and I'm not phased with even a craving....thanks to snus/and nasal snuff and the will to want to quit....tattooer601

I have to careful with this. Oliver Twist (which I love!) has 0.06g of sugar per pellet, I use two pellets at a time, and I place them in the same spot. Hmmm

I'm smoke free 1 year today so I can say without doubt that snus helped me quit smoking. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I had tried cold turkey, the nicotine patch and nicotine gum in the past and failed miserably each time. I found out about snus online and decided to try it out and was amazed at how effective it was. It's amazing how much better I feel heath-wise compared to a year ago.

Snus is the ONLY thing that helped me to quit smoking. I have been smoke free almost a year.

I noticed all of this, it prompted me to go to the dentist for the first time in 10 years! There was nothing wrong with my teeth or gums, perfectly healthy. I don't brush more than I used to, only time I do that is if I have any dip or chew as its so sugary. Really wouldn't worry about it, if you are, go to your dentist, it does put your mind at ease.

Ok, first things first. Calm down and breathe. I think everybody goes through this in the beginning with snus. How much attention to your teeth did you pay before you started using snus? It's easy to think something is getting worse when you obsess on it constantly. I have heard that snus can cause gum recession but personally I have never seen it on me. It's also important that you don't overdo it with the oral care. Over brushing or brushing and flossing too vigorously will lead to gum recession quicker than smokeless tobacco. I know when I first started I was concerned with staining. I was brushing 4-5 times a day and using whitening toothpaste which was playing hell with my mouth and of course i blamed it all on the snus. After easing up on the brushing a little and laying off the abrasive mouthwash my mouth feels better and here I am a year later with whiter teeth than when I started.

Hi there, This is my first post.
I am trying to quit smoking and only use snus. I know this has probably been asked to death but I am noticing that the gaps between my teeth are getting more noticible. I am flossing, using a strong mouthwash and brushing with a sonicare.
I am still smoking but cut right down and using snus more and more. Do you think this is the snus creating wider gaps between the teeth or still the smoking? Has anyone else noticed this with snus? I really want to quit smoking but right now this gum issue is worrying me and I don't want to have gum recession. Sorry if this has been asked before but can't find this actual topic.
    Thanks!

I did start smoking at 15 and I did smoke for 16 years. My favourite cigs were Camel non filter from US and Cleopatra Golden Kings from Egypt. The stronger the better. Then I had some health problems (not smoking related ones) and I had to go through that nightmare called chemotherapy. Before starting it, docs told me I should not smoke while doing it cuz some of the substances used for chemo were toxic for lungs. Because of that, I did buy 3 cans of Jakobssons snus one month before starting chemo in order to see if this stuff could help me out. I started with one portion of snus here and there, lets say one snus every 10 cigs (I was smoking around 10 cigs per day), then 5 cigs and 5 portions and finally I did completely replace cigs with snus. This happened 6 months ago, and I can say THANK YOU SNUS for making me quit smoking.
In 6 months I smoked exactly 5 cigarettes: not because I did feel I had to smoke but because I was at restaurant and I was feeling ashamed of making a prilla in public .....
I smoked the last cig 1 month ago but I wasn't able to smoke it all and after 4-5 puffs I did throw it away. My throat is not used with smoke anymore.

Thanks , I am determined not to go back to cigarettes ! between 6 to 10 portions of strong Snus a day keeps me going for now.

The Icetool tins are really worth it. I just got one finally last week. It does keep the snus really fresh especially compared to the regular fiberboard loose cans.
