I don't read much fiction, but if you're a scifi fan try Frank Herbert's Dune series - that will twist your head in knots. Heinlen's Stranger in a Strange Land is pretty cool too.

I'm a real fan of the 'Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter' series from Laurell K. Hamilton. Funny, erotic and thrilling and totally different from the ususal vampire stories. A little bit similar are the books from the 'Undead' series written by Mary Janice Davidson. They are easy reading and funnier than the Anita Blake ones. Both are definitely a recommendation for every Fantasy/Sci-Fi fan.

I'm a sci-fi/fantasy nut, just finished reading Enders Game (ok, it only took me a day to get through). My favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, and George RR Martin.
I'm often reading rules for involved Historical Combat Simulation Games... you know, something lite for on the train..

At the moment I'm mostly reading works by Danish authors (I'm doing literary reviews for a Copanhagen based paper). Guess it would make very little sense to mention them here as none of them are translated. Other than that I have recently re-read some John Fante (love him) and also Henry Miller's 'Quiet Days in Clichy'. Oh, and Max Frisch's great book 'Homo Faber'. I also did a review on Auster's most recent novel 'Man in the dark' - it was okay. Not as good as I found fx. 'Oracle night' to be.
We actually had a somewhat similar thread some time ago:

I have read many of the classics. Crime and Punishment, Pride and Prejudice, Mark Twain stuff, Upton Sinclair....well almost all of the classics even the Brothers Karmazov (why did I read that?). I also enjoy Clark and Asimov which should be right up your alley. You got to love the Enders Game series along with all of the Foundation series, especially the surprise in Foundation and Earth. Right now I am reading Bova. You read any of his stuff? I find it hard to read very much with all the days I am working but still enjoy a good novel.

Although I'm supposed to be studying (and drawing) my ass off for finals, I'm actually in the middle of a Guy Gavriel Kay novel and am really enjoying it. I'm a huge Fantasy/SciFi fan and am wondering what sort of books you all enjoy. Post any recommendations or favorites, too!
As for me, Tolkien and The Silmarillion are my absolute loves. I'm hopelessly addicted to George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (even though he takes FOREVER with his books), but Kay is rapidly moving up.
...Alrighty, I've posted a gazillion times and have to get back to studying. Everyone who's done with school and finals, HAVE EXTRA FUN FOR ME!Tags: None
