Welcome to the elite club of Tre users! For some reason it's not really mentioned much on here, but I prefer it over Ettan any day.
I finally got around to trying this one and I am enjoying a portion as I write this. I must say upfront though, that I like click better, but this one is not far behind. They both have the same basic taste, but the click has a richer more earthy tobacco flavor. Don't get me wrong, this is a great snus, and it would have landed in daily rotation had I not already tried click. The difference between the two that I noticed is the herb flavor. Tre has a taste more reminiscent of dried green herbs and is more upfront, while click's herbal flavor is more of an undertone that comes on after you've had it in for a few minutes. The perfect snus to me would be these two combined, the stronger tobacco flavor of click, with the upfront herbal flavor of the tre.
There will definitely be a few more cans of this in my next order and I will probably switch it up with the click for daily rotation. I am thinking of cutting open a portion of each and baking a mixed pris, just to see how well the two would go together and if it would create my 'perfect snus' idea.
Anyway, if you like click then I would highly recommend this one, and if you haven't tried click but like a good rich strong tobacco flavor, then this is for you...
I find it interesting that this has been around as long as it has:
Tre Ankare Snus - Swedens Oldest Brand
Tre Ankare was the first portion snus that Swedish Match ever launched, it was introduced back in 1977. It was launched as a regular portion snus, but a few years ago they changed it into a white portion snus instead.
Tre Ankare White Portion
The oldest portion snus on the market. Full bodied white portion snus with a distinct flavour of dark tobacco and dried herbs. Launched in 1977.
Declaration of Contents: Water, Tobacco, Humectant, (E 1520), Acidity regulator, (E 500), Flavour enhancer (sodium chloride), Flavour substances including smoke flavour.
Data: Water 50%, Nicotine 8 mg/portion, Salt 3%
I have a few of the minis left and do enjoy them when I'm looking for low-nic snus, but never noticed the original. Will definitely order the higher potency next time around, especially since they are very similar except for double the nicotine.
I am wondering how this one compares to click, since they are both described as strong dark tobacco and herbs. Is it similar? I love click but haven't tried this one yet.
Yeah I too have just opened a can and prolly gonna get a roll next order. Good stuff.
I finely got around to trying this snus. Wow. I really like it. Very earthy. A good all day snus. I can't stop using it. Don't hear much talk of this on the boards, but there should be. I think it blows Grov out of the water, and gives Ettan a good run for it's money. Cool looking can. Cj if you haven't tried this, you need too. It kinda reminds me of Level, but without the dirt taste! I have a roll in my order queue now!
Tastes like a great pure tobacco, and in my top two (along with Gustavus, no doubt this will all change in time). Reminds me of a top quality virginia pipe tobacco, kind of grassy and earthy. I prefer this to Ettan and Grov. It's funny as I got the mini of this in my first order, and I wasn't that keen, now I expect I'll be getting this as my first roll. Highly recommended for plain baccy lovers (even though this flavour is probably achieved with additional herbs, as it says on the blurb). Desert island stuff.
I'm pretty new to Tre Ankare, but it's fast becoming one of my favorites.
It's got a nice tobacco taste. I noticed that the salt content seems a little stronger. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's just how the salt compliments the deep tobacco flavor that I'm noticing.
It's got that nice subtle smokey flavor in there as well.
I'm seriously thinking about ordering a roll of this stuff.
