Jakobsson's Strong Melon

by lxskllr on 01-10-2012 at 02:56 PM
This is an interesting snus, and quite unlike any I've had before. The scent is strong, easily escaping the sealed tin. Opening the tin, the first scent is watermelon(surprise!), but sticking my nose inside, and breathing deep brings up the scent of sour apple. I guess it's still watermelon, but sour apple is what immediately comes to mind. Weird...

As is typical for Jakobssons, the portions are plump, with a good moisture content. First thought when putting the portion in my mouth

Demand 50g

by lxskllr on 11-13-2011 at 07:52 AM
The practice of snus companies shrinking the size of the lös tins, is disturbing, and irritating. It's a dishonest trick to make people think they're getting the same amount of snus for less money. Snus isn't the only place this happens, but the (American sales)industry is still small enough that we can do something about it.

To put the size shrink into perspective, you lose 1 tin per roll for every 5g taken off the cans. If the snus is in a 45g tin, when you buy a roll, you pay for

Tobacco As Art

by lxskllr on 11-03-2011 at 06:31 PM
It seems like most companies treat tobacco as a revenue device, and not as an art form. Instead of making their finest product, they chase the (sometimes retarded)tastes of consumers. That's ok for mainstream products, but there should be an outlet for the artist also.

I've pushed the concept, but it doesn't seem like anyone cares. In snus, of all companies, it's Swedish Match that gets it. The world's largest snus maker. Every year they release Kardus; arguably the worlds greatest

The Snuff Taker's Ephemeris

by lxskllr on 09-11-2011 at 08:55 PM
Well, I'm finally getting to my review of the Snuff Takers Ephemeris(STE) periodical. I wanted to do this sooner, but life got in the way, and my general motivation has been flagging a bit. Summer's been kicking my ass, and the stench of warm humid air doesn't do much for motivation :^D

I received the first 3 issues in electronic format from Ephemeris at SnusOn, and the kind gesture is greatly appreciated. I've been wanting to read this since the first issue, but couldn't really

It's Time To Grow Up America

by lxskllr on 01-19-2011 at 04:59 PM
With all the changes in the tobacco world, the one that's really been bothering me(other than an overstepping government) is the Americanization of snus. The American brands are a complete joke, and the Swedes are starting to follow suit. Bold artificial flavor, and cloying sweetness has been the modus operandi so far. Here's a list of the traditional, as well as newer Swedish snus flavors made for the Swedish market...

Tobacco and smoke
Bergamot
Mint
Licorice
